Finally picked up this from my FFL after what seemed like an eternity. Now, I'm a realist. I realize this is a heavily allocated item that many shops are having a hard time keeping in stock. That said, the status showed "shipping" for over a week before I actually received a tracking number. This was my first transaction with Bud's, so I was a little disappointed that the order didn't ship as fast as the multiple reviews I've read of other guns said. I ordered another gun shortly after placing this order which processed and shipped in quarter the time.
The gun itself is a beauty! I've only owned poly ("tupperware") guns in the past, so the first thing I noticed is the weight. She's a beast! Not heavy in the sense that you couldn't carry, but more substantial than I'm used to. The fit and finish are top notch. It just feels like this gun is more quality than the RIA's/ATI's I considered. The stainless finish and wood grips really compliment each other. I thought about getting golf-ball dimpled black rubber grips, but I don't know if I can bring myself to change the gun. I really like the way it looks as-is, right out of the box. Everything seems tight as a tick on a bloodhound. Nothing seemed loose when I gave it a good going-over at the FFL.
I've only cycled some snap-caps through the magazine, so I can't yet comment on how it will handle at the range. I can say that the trigger is smooth. This is my first 1911, so this might not be news to those who own one, but my goodness! Very solid. Can't wait to put some real ammo in this thing and see what she can do!
