Ruger 8100 Single-Ten 10RD 22LR 5.5"
[8100]

Pros: It is accurate. Fiber optics sights enhance the sight picture for older eyes, but do not overpower such that you cannot see the blade of the front sight in the notch of the rear sight for good sight picture. Balance very nice with the 5-1/2 inch barrel. Just enough weight to keep the gun from bouncing much in recoil. Grips, which I understand that Ruger calls the "Gunfighter" grips, are narrower than Single Six grips, but also very comfortable. Trigger is crisp (no idea of the amount of pounds of trigger pull for release yet). Rear sight is angled so that you will not have glare from it, and it hangs farther over the frame that other adjustable sight six-guns from Ruger. More sight radius, albeit slight, but it is there. Finish is very nice. All the barrel 'tattooing' has been moved to the bottom of the barrel and is not on the top. Fit of the grips is good, no spaces between the grip panels and the frame. The cylinder chambers are recessed. The stainless steel finish cleans up fast.
Cons: Cocking action is heavy and feels rough. This may work itself out in time. This gun is too new for me to tell. The chambers also felt rough when I was trying to insert the cartridges, and all cartridges had to be removed with the ejector rod. With the chambers being recessed, you cannot see the shells.

Overall, the pros outweigh the cons on this gun. Ten shots make this one fun revolver. It will make a nice hunting revolver on small game, and a fun gun for targets or plinking. It's lightweight enough that it could be carried in a holster and you might forget it is there.
