I have had my 14-45 Limited now for about two months. This is my first experience with a 1911 style pistol, believe it or not. When I decided to ad one to the collection, I knew I wanted a high cap gun, so Para was the obvious choice.
Overall, I am pretty impressed with the gun. Fit and finish seems very good. Gun feels great in my hand and has great pointability. Safety, mag release, and slide all work just as they should and are within easy reach. Trigger felt very good, nice and crisp, and I was impressed with it.
I don't really care for the rear site, or the front for that matter. I would have preferred something along the lines of a low profile Novak site set, which would also enhance carry the gun concelaed. And yes, I have carried it concealed.
SInce this is my first experience with a 1911, I followed the instrucitons for break in. It was stated to not clean the gun until something like 250 rounds had been through it. Ok, normally I always break down a new gun and clean and lube it. This time, I decided to do as the manual stated. I took it to the range and after about the first two mags, the slide started locking back when there was still one last round in the mag. I would hit the slide release and it would chamber the round no problem. This continued on for the rest of the range session.
I returned home and stripped the gun down to clean it anyway. Around the slide release lever, I found a blob of gun grease that now had poweder residue built up in it. I suspect that this was for whatever reason was causing the aforementioned problem. After a cleaning and lube session, the gun has not replicated the problem.
I am also impressed with accuracy. Even my 16 year old son was walking a plastic jug at 30-35 yards after only firing a few rounds with the gun and it was also his first experience with a .45ACP.
AS for my first 1911 purchase, I am pleased with the gun and it will be a "keeper" that I will hang on to for quit a while.
