I was looking for a home defense hi capacity 45. As far as meeting those needs the FNX is great! The double action design is perfect, the hammer travel is short but reliable. It feeds all ammo well, I have had no failures. The polymer grip is OK, but feels clunky and not at all ergonomic. The stipple design feels odd, and the color is a greenish brownish dog vomit color. The thing is a brick and will rest well in the nightstand. Carry would be cumbersome especially with spare mags. You get 1 spare only and new FNX mags are around 54 dollars. The product is good overall but certainly not a versatile choice.

As a disclaimer, my rating is directed entirely at this pistol, and not Bud's. Bud's has always been the finest online firearms retailer in the world. With that said, I quite disliked this pistol. On paper, it looked really great. A great big .45 boss hog war pistol with a huge capacity. What's not to like? In reality though, I experienced numerous failures in the first 100 rounds, and that is after disassembling, thoroughly cleaning, and lubricating this weapon after I received it. The trigger was just garbage, and the entire experience was terrible. I tried a couple more range visits after more cleaning and fine-tuning, but it remained a jam factory. FN has a great reputation, but I had a very bad experience with this. I may have gotten a lemon, but buyer beware.

It’s really nice to have a gun that can hold 15 rounds of .45acp. I did have some problems with the hammer not wanting to fall when shooting in double action but after sending it to FN they worked it over and it is now functioning flawlessly

Well this FNX-45 is awesome. It is worth the hype. In single action, the trigger is super smooth. Recoil is very manageable. Even though it is a larger gun, it is very manageable. Overall very fun to shoot.

After owning this pistol for a couple of years now, I can confidently say that I'd stake my life on it's performance. As if you'd have to guess, FN always provides a top tier product regarding form, fit and function. I had experienced 2 FTE's with my very first loaded factory mag, cycling Federal 230 gr FMJ Brass case. I chalk this up to me potentially limp-wristing my grip, or a potential break-in hiccup. The .45 ACP Caliber was new to me as a whole at that particular time. I did tighten up my grip thereafter & have not experienced a single failure since! With the pistol having a max potential capacity of 15+1 you'd think this beast to be very unwieldy, right? This is just not the case! Yes, the FNX 45 has a large frame by design, and is heavy w/ 15 rounds loaded, but the ergonomics are quite good for me. Lastly, pony up the extra bucks for factory FNX 45 mags, as I did not have good luck with the aftermarket offerings from the Company who's initials are P.M. & their FNX 45 mag offerings.

Fantastic pistol. Functions flawlessly. First rounds through it were a variety of factory ball ammo, random reloaded semi wad cutters, lead round nose and lead flat nose. No failures of any kind. Grip is large but manageable. Surprisingly the larger back strap gives a better feel even though it adds slightly to the circumference but it rounds out the back of the grip. The smaller back strap gives a more squared off feel. Excellent fit and finish. I am definitely pleased with this purchase.

Great home defense option. Fun at the range and shoots like a 9mm! This baby is on my nightstand equipped with a weapon light for bumps in the night.

Simply put. I love it. It's a big chunk of 15+1 .45 ACP goodness. It's gobbled up all the ammo I've thrown at it so far and I can assure you if it didn't keep up with my reliability standards and GLOCKS I wouldn't own it. Clean it, lube it, if it doesn't work it's gone. Break in, never heard of it. The first 250 rounds were Blazer FMJ. The next 300 were a mixture of quality self defense rounds, Federal HST, Hornady Critical Duty ETC. This was all in one day at the range with no hiccups whatsoever. It comes with 3 15 round magazines which is a bonus. As usual the Buds transaction was flawless. I use the layaway plan exclusively and it's great as well.

FNX .45 what can I say, well this is the 5th one I have bought! Anyone who knows anything about a firefight knows it's about putting lead down. This beast will put 16 down range with pin point accuracy without ever a hiccup. Auto decocker is by far the safest feature a gun could have. I give it a 20 out of 10 and I own the five seven and a many other FN firearms this is by far their best handgun. You won't be sorry or disappointed except for the cost of magazines are over priced, but it does hold 15 .45 ACP. In this category FN hands down makes the best .45 in my opinion. I am a huge fan.

Big and bad!! Very accurate!

When I Recieved the gun it was very clean with a great finish. I haven't shot it yet but while holding it it fits perfectly in my hand and the 15 rnd mag is a PLUS. I've shot my friends fnx-45 and loved it so much I had to buy one. Buds was excellent when it came to expediting this process. Fast shipping great experience once again.

I was rather excited to get my FNX-45, but after shooting it, my ardor cooled somewhat. Although it shoots well enough and has been reliable so far, 60% of fired cases split due to extreme chamber dimensions. I am sending it back as soon as I can.

First, Buds despite the busy holiday season, sent this out to me asap. I bought this for a tactical pistol course. Despite Buds usually taking 5-9 business days to mail typically, I expressed my distress that I'd not make my course and they sent it to me the next day! A+ customer service. They communicated well with me at every step! Second, I got the FNX, field stripped it, and oiled the recoil spring, that was it. This weapon then proceeded to eat everything I could load into it. At the course I fed it fmj, steel fmj, jhp, jhp+, and underwoods p+ rounds (which as p+ rounds go are in there own catagory)! This gun feels great in my hands! It shoots straight! At 7 meters I was hitting 1" groupings and at 25 yards I was hitting 2" groupings! Don't hesitate to buy this gun!

FN does not disappoint with the FNX-45 series. Well balanced for anyone experienced with full size .45's.

Excellent pistol. Feels very good in your hand. Very controllable recoil. Shot 200 rounds thru it without any issues. I love that this pistol holds 15 rounds and it comes with 3 magazines. The trigger is very smooth and this weapon is very accurate. This is my favorite 45 acp and this is the only 45 I've see. That holds 15 rounds and it doesn't make the magazine stick out and look funny. This gun is perfect. Thank you buds saved over 150$ with this purchase compared to all the gun shops in my area.

This just became my new favorite handgun. Trust me when I tell you, I have a ridiculous amount of guns, so when I say that this one just became my favorite, its a BOLD statement. Its the easiest to field strip, its the most comfortable grip I've ever felt, and its recoil is lighter than the 4" .38 special revolver my wife bought. Not to mention, the 15 1 rounds of .45 caliber ass kicking you can dish out per magazine! I almost didn't order this gun because of certain people complaining about how thick the grip is, but I have never felt a more comfortable grip in my life. I, like everyone else, thought that the price was pretty steep for a polymer frame gun, but once you take it to the range, you will understand completely... Easily the most underpriced pistol on the market. Buy it, if you don't like it (yeah right) I'll buy it from you haha

Flawless transaction by Buds as usual. I FNX-45 is a great value. Still cant get over how comfortable the grip is with 15 rounds of .45 acp. And comes with 3 mags to boot.

I have to say this is just an awesome gun. I wanted a high capacity .45 and this is the best I have seen. I know that the M&P .45 does have an extended mag with 14. That's great but is is nice to have a 15 rd mag and it fit the gun. This also does make the grip slightly larger, but they really make it work. I do also have the M&P .45 and this gun is just in a different class. I did find a IWB holster for it so I am going to try to CCW with it. Like the other reviews if you are thinking about this gun and are not sure then I say buy it you will not be disappointed.

THIS is a great handgun. Solid, and puts rounds consistently where it's pointed. I went to the range with my son, a U.S. Army Infantry Sgt, with 3 combat tours, and he loved it compared to his S & W M & P. Make no mistake about it, it is a large handgun, and will be difficult for CCW, but with 15 1 rounds of .45 ACP, it's worth it. I gave it a 4 only because it would be perfect with night sites. As always, my interaction with Bud's was flawless.
