Sig Sauer 290RS-9-TSS P290RS Two-Tone 6+1 9mm 2.9"

I like this pistol but there's no denying it's not for everyone. It has a very long trigger pull. I mean really, really long with a let-off very deep in the pull. If you're used to DA/SA autos or DA only revolvers, you'll still have to make adjustments to your trigger technique to learn this gun. Now some say the trigger pull is heavy. Not true. It's really quite light but the length of pull makes many people think it's heavier than it really is. It also is very small with a very rough grip surface. You can improve the grip surface with a rubber grip sock, cut to fit. The standard 6-round magazine leaves your pinkie hanging out in the wind and this doesn't help with leverage and trigger control. Unfortunately, the 8-round magazine compromises concealment and spare mags often have the habit of letting rounds pop out in your pocket when carrying and at least one of my 8-rounders will not allow the first round to feed from a closed slide position. I wish SIG made 7-round magazines for this gun. Or at least make a 6-round magazine floorplate with more of a pinkie extension. The little nub on the regular 6-rounders is worthless.

What it has going for it is 100% reliability, something SIG is known for. Honestly, I don't recall a single failure to feed out of nearly 1000 rounds thus far. I have had a couple of failures to fire with Tula and Geco range ammo--both known to have hard primers. No problems with any other brands of ammo or with any type or brand of self defense ammo. I also love the standard night sights. They're easy to pick up quickly and return to target. The gun also has a solid feel. Once you learn to field strip it, it's an easy task to disassemble for regular cleaning and lubrication.

It's small and easily pocketable. It's powerful. It's reliable. You have to put forth a lot of range time to learn the trigger, figure out what ammo works best with it and make sure your magazines work properly. Once you get yourself and your gun tuned in, it's a great little self defense pistol. It's not perfect but it's real good.
