I have mixed feelings about this gun. The pros are that it's inexpensive, light weight, fits the hand well, shoots straight, and always goes bang. Unfortunately Ruger unnecessarily did so many things wrong with the design of this gun, primarily involving their design for the safety. The safety lever physically works backwards of virtually all other modern pistols in the market. The next problem is that engaging the safety lever doesn't just decock the pistol, but it prevents from having it in the cocked and locked configuration at all. This can complicate things when working with someone new to firearms, as they now have to either deal with the heavy DAO trigger that switches to a light SAO after their first shot, or you give them the extra step of cocking the hammer after disengaging the safety. There are other problems, like the magazine disconnect, but they pale in comparison to how poorly the safety was designed.
