First things first, have to say Buds is great. I did the lay away plan just so I didn't have to shell out all the money up front, and did it with the E-check. Each payment took 3 business days to process. The day before the last one got processed, I got the email (I'm guessing it was a mass email) about how they are backlogged and shipping time would be a little longer than their normal time. NOPE! The day the last payment cleared is the same day they shipped it. It arrived about 3 business day before I thought I was going to get it. YAY BUDS!

Ok, on to the rifle. This is one well built machine. Got it yesterday, did a quick clean up and lube, and took it to the range today. At 10yards I was hitting 1in groups, and at 30yds I could still kept them within 4in group. Now I know people are gonna say 'Wow, that sucks'. First, I'm not a great shot and this is my first semi-auto rifle I've owned (shot about 5 before and usually no more than 100rounds each). Second, I still haven't received my cheap rear sight from Midway (that I ordered thurs of last week, wish they had bud's shipping dept.). So lemme say that again, 1in group at 10yards, and 4in group at 30 yards with NO REAR SIGHT! I was going to the range to do a simple function test, make sure all the parts were working right, make sure that pieces weren't going to start falling off, etc. before I put some mods on it, but was so impressed by how it was handling i just had to keep going. I was planning on only putting 10-20 rounds down range and ended up putting 100, and would've been more if I didn't leave the rest in the car. I just couldn't believe it.

Trigger was nice and crisp. charging handle is nice and sturdy but it seems to not be a perfect fit as it has 2 spots on the side where there is metal to metal contact and kind of shaving down the handle (not sure if this is common on AR's as I never really look at that when I've been shooting them), bolt release worked just fine, stock was not rough like some i've used (and was pretty smooth adjusting it). I induced a few malfunctions and they were all super easy to clear. Magazine release kicks it out enough that gravity will take it striaght down without having to flick it (even though I still do). Fire pin streaks looked nice and deep and pretty identical.

Only a few concerns, but all superficial. The ejection port cover looked a little rough, the barrel had a few scratches (small and again, superficial), and the front post as a nic in it too(but I'll be swapping out the gas block soon anyways, so that is no concern at all). These were probably all done either post-production or in shipping (but the case it came it didn't seem to have any damage at all). Another thing is the trigger guard is not a tight fit. It has some play in it, but I'd rather have that than play in the trigger But again, all of this is just nit-picking and of no real concern about how the rifle preforms over all. Not enough to knock off a whole star.

I would give this rifle a 4.89 overall, .1 for the damage (but again, probably in shipping) and .01 for NO REAR SIGHT! I understand it's a flattop for you to customize yourself, but they couldn't even though on a cheap magpul one? Doesn't even have to be installed, just in the case that says "Use if you want, but it is CHEAP AS HELL!". I knew this before I bought it so thats why it's only .01. I guess they don't want to throw anything cheap on it to bring down the like-ability, and didn't want to throw an expensive one on to drive up the price any more.

Great platform to customize, and I see quite a bit of it in the future. The upper and lower receivers are great quality, barrel as well, and the pistol grip. Definatly getting a free float hand guard before I throw on an expensive optic, new low profile gas block and throw on some back up sights, abi safety since I like to be prepared for anything to happen if I have to use it in a life-or-death situation, and probably a new stock just because I want to go with Dark Earth on this set up.

GIVE THESE GUYS A CHANCE. I believe their quality is just as good if not better as any of the other ARs in their class (Stag, bushmaster, etc). They are the new kids on the block, but I'm sure in a few years they're name will be mentioned in the same sentence as the ones i stated before. Great job CORE, and bud's for putting their name out there.
