Doubletap Defense Ported 45 ACP Derringer
[DT045011]

I had already read all the reviews here and watched a few YouTube videos, so I went into this with my 66 year-old eyes open, clutching a large bottle of Advil. I'll have to agree with most everyone here in saying this gun is NOT fun to shoot... BUT... I have every confidence that should the time come to put it to use, it will get the job done. Bud's shipped it to my FFL, and the transaction went smoothly in every way. My FFL has an indoor range, so when it arrived I rounded up a box of of Blazer 230gr and an unsuspecting friend to help me check it out. First I shot 2 rounds and yelled MOMMY! After recomposing myself I shot 2 more. The silhouette target, 10' away, had 4 hits center mass, and my hand WAS stinging! My buddy summoned up all his "can so" courage and fired a couple rounds, then a couple more with the same hand-ringing results. At that point I grimaced and said I thought I had got my money's worth out of the range fee! However, by that time some other customers and one of the guys who works there had gathered around, so I offered them a go at it. Two takers tried their hand at it (pun intended), firing 4 rounds each. after that, my buddy and I shot 4 more rounds each. Absolutely had our fill of it and went back up front. Hits in the target equaled rounds fired. The four of us related our experience to each other and a few more wide-eyed customers. No joke - although we all agreed it was nasty to shoot, we all felt it was one terrific little .45, and Bud's price cannot be beaten. That night my palm was pretty red. Next day my palm was deep purple. Day after that the back of my hand was, too! Something else to think about - when I told a KY State Trooper buddy about it he warned me about shooting a ported gun at night. What he actually said can't be repeated in polite company - expect the first round to blind you for a WHILE. Perhaps the non-ported version would have been the better choice. Of course, my first consideration in choosing the ported version was pain mitigation, but I don't see how the non-ported barrel could hurt MUCH more? lol Oh yeah, he also advised me to get some Buffalo Barnes 160gr Low Recoil with low flash powder. It came today, and I'd like to say I can't wait to try them... but I can. :)
