Bought for the wife...nice pistol, but the trigger locked up while dry firing before it was even taken to the range. Opened the side plate to find the internals bone dry and the hammer rusted up. I guess S&W quality isn't what it used to be... Bud's gets 5 stars, S&W gets 2...

Purchased this for my wife bucause it’s probable the safest and easiest gun for anyone to learn how to use for protection. Very well made and light weight. Don’t hesitate to buy.

I bought this for my wife to carry. The S&W 38 pistol is compact and hammer less which allows the pistol to be pulled out smoothly without getting caught on something. The gun is easy to shoot with the 5 shoots accompanying with knockdown power. Great gun for a woman

I just received my Smith and Wesson pink stainless steel gun!! My police officer dad gave me my first gun 30 years ago and it was a Smith & Wesson 38 that actually saved my life in an altercation with an xfiance Now I’m older and was looking for a lighter weight gun with a smoother trigger which this new gun has accomplished!!
Love my new lightweight gun!!

I bought this revolver as an alternate carry option to my Ruger LCR. I was very surprised that although the LCR feels good in the hand, I personally like the feel of the 642 better than the Hogue grips on the LCR. Also, although the trigger on the 642 isn’t bad, it’s heavier and not as smooth as the LCR. Still manageable just not as good as the LCR, but the LCR has the best trigger of any carry revolver. This revolver also comes with the standard black grips, which are a nessesary change and are simple to install. If you decide to carry a revolver, you can’t go wrong with this one. Even if you prefer a semi-auto for EDC, you should have a revolver as an option and you can’t do better than this or the LCR or both!

Bought this for my wife. She hated it. Trigger was too heavy and recoil too snappy because it is super light. So I did what any stubborn husband would do. I replaced the stupid pink grips with black laser grips from Crimson Trace and started carrying it myself. I like it a lot. I'm not as recoil sensitive and its small size and light weight make it a perfect "put in your jacket to go walk the dog" gun. It also makes a good hiking revolver because it is easy to carry long distances. Fit and finish are both excellent, but it probably could use an trigger/action job from your local gunsmith should you be so inclined. So bad for the lady it was originally intended for, but ended up being great for the well-meaning husband.

Hello Shooters, This M642 revolver is a short and sweet! Hey guys don't be fooled by the pink grip. Smith & Wesson also includes a black grip. A good point to note, this revolver has a Concealed Hammer. This is a huge deal with Law Enforcement. If it is determined that you "Pre-Cocked" your firearm before engaging, the law does not Work Favorably for you. Meaning Murder instead of Killing. If you carry daily, use double action only and Remove the Thumb Spur to keep you from falling into that trap!
