Chiappa M4 Pistol .22 LR 6" 2-28Rd Mags

Ok, I bought this knowing full well the issues people have had. But I have the full size Chiappa M4 upper so I am aware of some of the issues and how to resolve them. So when I got this pistol (I got the one with the red dot, but there is one here without it that is a little cheaper) I cleaned it up and took it out. I experienced many of the issues that have been reported and could not get more than 3 shots in a row without some sort of malfunction. But this was sort of expected and I took it back home to address the issues. So here is the list of things I did that made mine run 100%. They are listed in order of importance.

1. Replace the polymer mag release (that flexes too easily) with a metal one. This will solve the problem of mags falling out and other mag brands like CMMG and Blackdog from not seating easily. It will also help with other random jams due the mag not staying seated well..

2. Check the top of the chamber. Nobody should be dry firing this gun as it will cause peening at the top where the firing pin hits. While I did not do any dry firing, there was already evidence of peening causing a "burr" at the top of the chamber face protruding into the chamber. This burr will prevent a round from chambering easily or all of the way. This is the cause of the "click" and no bang you see on the youtube videos. The bolt will not going all the way into battery every time because of this burr, and thus the click and no bang.

3. Remove the charging handle and fill in the forward part of the channel of the charging handle (where the gas tube would normally go) with some JB weld. Do a Google search for the CMMG conversion charging handle to see what I am talking about (or just buy one of theirs). This will prevent cases that eject upward from getting stuck in that channel which is just the right size for a .22LR case to wedge it's self.

4.Use lube on the hammer face (preferably grease). This will help lower power ammo cycle better

While i can not guarantee these simple things will fix everything, they have made mine run 100% now, and only took a few minutes to do.
