Buy this shotgun. I had a Mossberg 500 that i sold years ago to fund parts for a custom Glock and wanted a 590 since. I picked up this 590A1 and its a completely different animal. Its parkerized which i am personally a parkerized fanboy. Everything is metal from the trigger guard to the safety and its all parkerized. This gun is solid, heavy walled barrel, double extractors, ghost ring sights with a high-vis orange front sight. Of course it functions flawlessly every time its a pump action, if it malfunctions its not the gun its the operator. This one is the youth stock model which i specifically wanted so that the overall length was as short as possible. This is one of my HD guns so being shorter its easier to manipulate around the house in the scenario of having to move from room to room. 6 or 7 shots including one in the pipe gives you all the firepower you need in a self defense situation. In that kind of situation you need to eliminate the threat, and the 12ga does just that. Military, police, and civilians who want the best pump action shotgun look to the 590 and that's why i bought this shotgun. If its good enough for war, its good enough for me.

I've got more than 650 rounds through this shotgun---flawless. Rear sight elevation screw came stripped from the factory. Contacted Mossberg and the sent me an entire rear sight assembly.

This shotgun is perfect for home defense or target shooting. It's thicker barrel is not that heavier than the regular barrel, the wood stock made it very balanced, add in the shorter barrel, this gun is like an extension of my body. The front sight is bright orange red, very visible in almost all lighting conditions, rear sight is adjustable. It came with heavy grease on it, I wiped it down with paper towel, so it is clean, but still has grease to keep the rust off. It cycles a lot smoother than I expected of a new Mossberg, the magazine spring is also stuerdier than expected, maybe because it's an A1 version.
