Great shooter. Have almost zero complaints. My only complaint is that that the slide is a little too smooth. Few times while on range and hands were sweaty, fingers would slip off the slide while trying to rack a round in. Easy fix with a little grip tape though. Still own it and love it.

I picked up my new R1 Carry from my FFL late Friday evening and found time to sneak out to the back 40 to put 100 rounds through it on Saturday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised that this firearm functioned flawlessly using a variety of fully loaded magazines including Remington, Dan Wesson, and Wilson Combat. The firearm was accurate right out of the box with no adjustments necessary. The grip is perfect and was expecting to have to switch them out with G10s. However, the grips are textured in areas where needed and smooth in other areas resulting in a comfortable and great purchase on the firearm - no need to change the grips! The trigger breaks at about 3.5 pounds and is very nice for a series 80 configuration. All-in-all, I am very impressed with the function of this firearm and the fact that it's a good looker for not a lot of money relative to its cousins in my collection is an added bonus. Well done Remington and thanks Buds for another great online experience!

All you need in a 1911 and nothing you don't. Excellent fit and function. I could have saved thousands in 1911 gun smith charges and custom gun orders with this one firearm. Buy and enjoy!

Beautiful firearm and well made. Comes with a 7 round and 8 round magazine. As with my other Remington 1911 (stainless version) I had a few FTF issues early on. This seemed to happen when I loaded 5 or less rounds into the magazine. Fully loaded magazines were not a problem. I believe these guns require a good cleaning and some break in before they run without any issues. Overall, a highly recommended gun!

This gun has options included that would cost you 3 to 4 times as much from another manufacture. I am well pleased with fit, finish and function. The price is a super deal.

I am not an expert but I expected a mediocre 1911 for this price. Pleasantly surprised when I received the gun. I have since been comparing to more expensive models and I think this Remington matches up to guns twice the price. Fit, finish, trigger are excellent (for what I know). I have only been able to shoot a few rounds and it was flawless. My favorite deal from Bud's so far.

Very nice overall. Only real gripe is the front night sight does not glow at all. It is a tritium sight but must've been low quality or damaged during installation. Other than that the handgun cycles and fires very smoothly. Metal finish is top notch. Grips are very nice. Take down is typical and all parts are tool mark free. Shoots beyond the price point I paid for it. (Para Ordinance lineage is obvious, if I had to pick between this and my Ruger SR1911 Commander it would be a toss up). As always dealing with Bud's is hassle free and their customer service and prices can not be beat.

I have to say that this one was a bit of a disappointment. Having handled them many times, but never had the opportunity to fire one, I've marveled over the Remington R1 Carry for a few years now. In that time, I've seen them sell for over $1000, I've always considered them to be one of the most beautiful examples of the 1911 in it's price range. I was finally able to grab one up. Bud's was first rate, as I've come to expect. I just wish I could say the same about my new R1 Carry. While the finish is nice, someone at Remington was a little rough with it and it arrived with some scuffs. The slide-to-frame fit is among the worst I've ever seen in any 1911, with considerable movement, side-to-side, along the length, as well as up and down movement. It appears there was no attempt to blend the rear of the slide to the frame, as the slide is proud of the frame on the left side and the ejector is recessed below each. The barrel to bushing fit is the tightest I've ever seen and should break in nicely. I can only hope it will serve to make up for some of the slop elsewhere. I'll be making a range trip with it tomorrow, but it's my first firearm purchase I'm not anxious to try out.

The quality to price ratio for the 1911 is excellent. It has features such as a match grade barrel, front Tritium night sight with Black Novak style rear sights, ambidextrous thumb safety, Cocobolo angular checkered and smooth combination grips, extended beavertail with memory bump, 25 LPI checking on the grips, de-horned slide and frame, and a match grade trigger and hammer. The day I got it I fired 100 rounds at the range. Reliability and accuracy are great! All of that for well under a thousand dollars is an excellent value! I must also give a thank you to Buds Guns shop for it's service and excellent prices.

I'm not gonna be nice with this one. Never a issue with Buds deliver, but the QC dept. at Remington took the day off. My safety was loose and dangled. There are way too many 1911 makers out there to let a product like this by Quality Control. I was probably unlucky, but I'm still sour over it. This piece is no longer in my collection.

As a 1911 fan and heard/read positives and negatives with Remington R1's. I just ran 150 rounds through it from 230 Tula to Civil Defence +P 78 gr . It ate them all and I didn't do anything but take it out of the box. The finish is flawless and amazing and its very tight / well made. A beautiful 1911 that shoots good and for now no FTF or FTE's. I am very impressed and it will be my EDC once I can run some more rounds through it. And it will be replacing a Sig commander length on that note. As for Bud's they were great as usual it was at my FFL on the 2nd day after the check cleared.

The R1 carry is a lot of pistol for the money. And Remington had a $75 dollar rebate on some of the R1 models. The finish is very nice, the trigger is around three pounds, and the parts seem solid and of good quality. It has a little bit of crunch in the trigger, but that is expected for a 80 series 1911. I took it to the range and it fed everything flawlessly. Including my very light SWC target loads. Groups were a little bit less than I had hoped, but not terrible. I'll let it break in before taking it to my smith to be tightened up. Beware that the front night sight can be damaged by solvents. It is similar to the M&P night sights and has a paint like circle around the tritium that can be dissolved by solvent. I had two pop out of my Smith's while shooting. If this works out, I'll add a few more R1's to my collection.

First thanks to Buds for the quick service. R1 carry, wow!! Impressed. Did my first day breaking it in and no failures. I shot 120 rounds with 20 of them golden sabors. All of them fed flawlessly. Very tight tolerance, crisp trigger and very smooth slide action.
