I ordered one of these through Buds since I've wanted one for quite a while. Buds service was very good. I bought this shotgun knowing that there are mixed reviews out there for the chinese 1887 repros - some folks say they run perfectly, while others say that they don't function at all. When I got mine, I looked it over and it has a very nice finisish- nice smooth, dark bluing, very nicely finished wood, and it doesn't look cheap and ugly like I thought it may, it actually has a nice grain to it.
The functioning of the shotgun is where there were some problems- I am not disappointed by this because I expected it, but I thought it was fair to include it in my review. If I put one round in the shotgun it would usually fire, but not always. If I tried to load the magazine it would not feed- the carrier was not coming up as far as it should and was causing two shells to try and come out of the magazine at once. I worked for quite a while correcting this- I had to build up the metal where one of the Chinese workers had buffed away too much in one place. Also, the firing pin protrusion had to be adjusted because it was not denting primers deep enough at full protrusion- this was not an easy thing to adjust. The extractors had to be made more rigid so they would not drop the empty hulls before ejecting. Also, the front of the hulls were hanging up on the rear of the barrel and receiver, so that had to be polished slightly. The action was also very tight and gritty, but a good polishing job with a file and a stone took care of that.
All in all this shotgun seems to be made of good quality steel, and seems to have good parts, they just needed a whole lot of fitting and adjusting to get them to work together. Now that everything has been polished, fitted, and adjusted it works almost 100% You do have to work the lever with quite a bit of authority for it to function correctly, but as long as you do that it feeds, fires, and ejects as it should.

All in all this shotgun is a good gun, as long as you don't mind investing some time working on it if you get one that doesn't function correctly. And it is a whole lot less expensive than buying a $1200-$1400 Chiappa.
