Received from FFL and cleaned thoroughly, lubed with FrogLube. 1.st range session with 230 gr FMJ resulted in roughly 1 FTE/FTL per 8rd magazine. Put 150 rounds through for breaking in. Not happy with results.
Cleaned again thoroughly, this time oiled with Ballistol, 2nd rage session, again with 230 gr FMJ showed still the same results, lots of FTE's and FTL's, sometime a mag went through without problems, but still heavily unreliable.Used original Taurus mags which came with the gun. Put again 150 rounds through, so it should hopefully now be broken in, but still not happy with the reliability of the gun. Not sure how to proceed, ammo is expensive to waste it in a gun which probably has to go due to reliability issues. One option might be to send it back to Taurus to get it fixed, but then it will need extensive firing again to prove it can now be trusted... The other option might be to sell it and say good bye to 1911's and revert back to Glocks which have up to now proven to be 100 % reliable without any break in period right out of the box. I like the look and feel of the PT1911, but in the end I also need to trust it. I don't think it is limpwristing, always focus on proper stance and strong grip with both hands, I also shoot .44 Magnums without a problem, so I would think I can exclude this as the point of failure.
