I got this pistol from Bud's and I love it! These pistols have strong springs in the slide and mags, but I pulled or cycled the slide about 100 times everyday for a week or so and it cycles nicely. The mags are a pain at first lol but get better with time. A speed loader helps for ladies. I really like this pistol and as always Bud's service is awesome! Fun to shoot!

Nice little gun. I put Talon grips on it and installed an Apex sear and an Apex striker safety mod. My son and son-in-law complained it wasn't accurate. .40 S&W is more than adequate for serious, up close and personal, social work.

What can you say, it's an awesome piece of machinery. I love the fit and feel. The slide release is a little stiff, maybe medium hard. I would like it a little softer. I've read somethings that have stated this seems to happen with smaller capacity magazines (Thanks California). With that minor preference in mind, still very happy with the purchase.

I purchased the Shield 40 from Buds a few months ago and have put over 600 rounds down range. Target ammo and SD JHPs as well. The gun is functioning 100% flawless with all ammo used. I qualified with it on a 2-day CCW course and even with the short barrel this gun is accurate and draws fast. I use it right now from an OWB Desantis holster. I have XL hands and find the grip fits me well. I added a Pearce mag extension on the short 6 round magazine and it is perfect. I also find the recoil vary manageable for most ammo, except the high velocity 135 g JHPs made by several manufacturers are stout loads in this compact. I settled on the 165g HST or Gold Dot. Overall for the price the Shield is an excellent choice for a CC weapon. Highly recommended. Buds is a first class shop to do business with. Fast shipping, solid email communications, clear instructions on accepting the shipment for DROS at FFL. Would not hesitate to purchase any future weapon systems here.

Called buds and they said it will take a 5-10 days to ship, but it shipped next day to my FFL dealer! Buds had the second lowest price after extensive research; however I still chose buds because 1) I've used buds before and got great service and 2) I trust buds. I didn't get the shipping insurance. Anyhow, after waiting my stupid 10days I shot my shield 40 and loved it! The gun will not fire without the mag but I think you can tweak it (I will not tweak it because I don't care that much). I did not clean my gun because I as too eager to shoot it. So far I have shot 2-350 rounds without cleaning it and not a single FTF FTE OR ANYTHING along those lines. I will clean it today. The mags are really tight when you first get them and I almost bought a easy reloaded thing but now it's eaiser to load although still a little difficult. My friends have the spring field xDm and they prefer this one better over theirs because of the size! I can fit it in my pocket but it is a little big but the average person will think it's a wallet. I shot 50rounds 180 of federal and the rest Winchester.
