Puma .454 Casull 20" Round Stinless Hi-Viz 45
[PUM68012]
$585.00
by Robert S Date Added: Thursday 28 July, 2011
Excellent rifle, I have had it since 2009 and have fired thousands of rounds through it. I do reload and have shot only my own cast bullets through the rifle which I usually load at the upper Ruger only 45 Colt load data or at 3/4 Casull power loads. I have sent some max loads down the barrel and it has had no problems digesting any of them.

My rifle has a .452" bore and a chamber that will allow for a .454.455 bullet to be chambered so I size to the larger diameter and have had excellent accuracy. The gun will chamber/cycle SWC's such as the Keiths (452454 or the RCBS 45-270 SAA) without a hitch and will take a LFN style bullet with a nose meplat of .340” and a nose length of .380"-.400". I designed my LFN style bullet mold with a .380” nose to be on the safe side.

The stainless steel is well finished on the outside and the wood has a fairly good finish, not great but not bad by any means. I did do some action work to the gun as it was a little rough around the edges straight from the box. Later on I replaced the rear Hi-Viz sight with a Marbles sight and then a finer green fiber optics up front. I also made my own magazine follower as the yellow plastic one didn't settle well with me and I knew with time it was just going to wear down and catch up at a time that wasn't advantageous i.e. such as in a hunting situation. All in all the rifle has been an excellent, reliable shooter and at a decent price.
