This is one of the smoothest 9mm's I have. I did install an apex trigger before I fired the gun and it is outstanding. I highly recommend this gun for older people (like myself) because of the optics option. Mine jas the holosun optics and it jas made a world of difference in my capabilities.

Been on my hip through mud, water, sand and snow. Thousands of rounds and never had an issue. My favorite side arm to date.

I love the trigger and feel of the C.O.R.E., but buyer beware. The adapter plates that come with the Pro Series C.O.R.E. do not work with Leopold's current reflex sight, the DeltaPoint Pro. The type 2 plate only works with the out-of-production DeltaPoint. The other "problem" is that the new DeltaPoint Pro has a thicker base, so when you purchase the correct adapter plate from Leupold or a third party, the reflex and C.O.R.E. iron sights will not co-witness. S&W doesn't make taller sights that will allow co-witness.

This is a very nice gun, it is very a comfortable feel in the hand and It has run every brand ammo I have put in it so far. Very smooth trigger and I added Viper Red Dot to complete the package. The groupings at 8 yards are 1 1/2 " . It is a good value and Buds delivered it quickly.

If you haven't purchased from Bud's before, let me just say it was smooth and easy. This was my first purchase through them and I will continue to shop here in the future. VALUE: The S&W M&P 9mm CORE is a fantastic value if you plan on employing a slide-mounted micro red dot and don't already own your preferred host pistol. Having the slide modified by one of the popular services out there usually runs around $200 plus the cost of refinishing the bare metal ($80+) not to mention the wait times which is my biggest hang-up with going that route. There is also the issue of setting up proper iron sights which typically involves machining a new rear dovetail and almost always involves buying a set of tall (suppressor) sights ($100+). Stated lead times are typically in excess of 4 weeks. Don't forget about shipping costs. The CORE comes with the tall sights and is ready to mount your preferred red dot sight. TRIGGER: Many complain about the stock M&P trigger. All variants have quite a bit of take up and a mushy feel from the polymer hinged trigger design. In my experience, the standard and performance center pistols have no noticeable reset feel. The non-performance-center CORE has a very tactile glock-like reset in all copies that I've handled/shot. This aids in quick follow-up shots. I would have been okay with the stock trigger but I had already purchased an Apex Tactical Duty/Carry Action Enhancement kit with the curved aluminum trigger. This upgrade got rid of the tactile reset feel but the travel is so short that it doesn't bother me one bit. There is another Apex part called the Reset Assist Mechanism (RAM) if you want the shorter travel and the reset feel. I highly recommend the Apex parts if you have any qualms with your stock trigger but it's not strictly necessary on this particular flavor of M&P. ERGONOMICS: A big factor in my choice of the M&P over a Glock is the ergonomics of the pistol. This is a personal thing but I happen to prefer the 1911 grip angle and reduced length-of-pull circumference. if you have larger hands there are the interchangeable back-straps that can accommodate you. A Glock grip feels like a 2x4 to me whereas the M&P feels like a high-end hiking pole handle. PURPOSE: The full size 4.25" M&P can be employed in many ways. It's will work well for service/duty, home defense, recreation, competition, and self-defense/carry. It's less suited to competition than the 5" or ported variations but more suited to defense situations. It's less suited to carry than the compact and shield variations but more fun to shoot recreationally. You will have to decide what your priorities are.

Fantastic value . Very good platform didn't have any issues with it .will recommend it for anyone. Like any m&p you will need a after market trigger .

Awesome shooter! I wanted a replacement to my Glock 19 (dedicated home defense) for carry purposes and I wasn't disappointed. After holding, drawing, carrying and shooting, for me, it's a perfect replacement. I love those suppressor sights! Waiting for my JPoint 4 to come in to make it even more awesome. So I was considering the Apex upgrades but after some range time, nope. The trigger does have a audible reset as well as a noticeable reset feel. The trigger overall is great. Yeah, it's not a Glock but IMO, it's just as good. Needless to say, I won't be investing in any Apex upgrades. I will try out the Sprinco M&P Smith&Wesson 9mm BUFFER SPRING just because. Happy, happy, happy!

I really like this handgun! I puchased this with the thought of shooting competiions with it but I got the 4.25 inch barrel size so that i could carry it if I chose as it is roughly the same size as my Glock 19. Well it arrived and I went to the range and it shot beautifully. I then put the Leopuld 7mm DeltaPoint on it and once I got use to that wow, fast shooting! Now I am torn between carring this or my Glock... and truth be told I have a hard time saying what is my favorite. Needless to say, this S&W C.O.R.E. Pro Series if a very very nice handgun and you cannot go wrong if you decided to get one.

Wow. I watched Jerry Michlek's video review of the 9mm CORE Pro with the 5 inch barrel and took to buying the 4" as wanted a pistol that I'd carry. The pistol comes with adapter plates that are quite thin and rigid with one specific tor my JPoint red dot (4 MOA dot). It comes with taller sights to clear the red dot base. It shot very well, the sights were dead on from the factory. As predicted, it shoots below point of aim due to the difference between sight line and bore line at 5 yards; lower than the standard M&P's. JM mentioned in his video that the barrel has a tighter twist, which was carried over to the 4.25" pistol. The new grip texture is more aggressive than the previous versions and seems to purchase well in my hands. I were large gloves and assume that I have large hands, but with all of my M&Ps, I use the small grip panel as this seems to work for me during one handed shooting. The pistol reliably and accurately shot Blazer 115gr ball and Hornady Critical Defense ammo.

This is a fine pistol and the ability to easily mount various red dot sights (several of which will co-witness) is a fantastic feature - especially for those of us with aging eyes! I highly recommend it!

This handgun is well-worth it especially for the price and most especially the quality. I have put in 350 rounds in a week and not one flaw or failure to feed. Recoil is manageable for a 4.25" barrel. This is a well made handgun from smith and wesson. I think the delivery took a little bit longer than I hope it would but it was well worth the wait. I'm enjoying this firearm thoroughly and I am happy with this first one I got. I'm planning to get a 1911 before the year ends.
