I ordered a ProMag M&P9 magazine because the price was much lower than the S&W magazine. I also have the two S&W magazines that came with my M&P9.
When I put a couple of rounds in the ProMag and loaded my M&P9, I immediately had a jam (round got stuck on the ramp). When I compared a loaded S&W mag to the ProMag, I saw that the top of the ProMag was pinching the round a bit tighter than the S&W. This resulted in the round not angling up as much as it should have been (i.e., it was more parallel to the slide).
I also noticed that when pushing rounds out of the ProMag with my thumb that they would not slide out smoothly.
I was thinking of prying open the top of the ProMag magazine to try to fix the problem, but I plan to return the ProMag and spend the extra $ on S&W mags, as overall the S&W build quality seems better.
Another important point about the ProMag is that the floor plate is much harder to get off than that of the S&W. I gave up after a while because I plan to return it anyway.
