Not a bad conceal and carry firearm, the actual frame is a bit small for my hand but the functionality is fine.

Well made, decent trigger and accurate enough for close quarter use.

This pistol had a rough start and didn't work well at first so I believe they all were recalled by Remington. I suppose that is what caused its demise. I purchased the revised version that had been fixed and I'm glad I did. Just like its predecessor Model 51 made in the 1920s this is one slick gun. It has a really good trigger that feels better than most of the small guns I've tried. It is sleek in design and has given me no problems. I'll warn you that it is tricky to take down and it's best if you read the manual carefully while learning and practicing take downs for cleaning. I'd recommend anyone should buy one but make sure it is one of the redesigned versions. I don't know how to identify the latest version but a gunsmith could probably tell you.

I really like my Remington R51. The only issue with it is that it does not like any 115 grain ammo that I have tried in it but 124 grain shoots good however 147 grain bullets shoot great so that is what I mainly shoot and keep in it for self-defense.

Love the appearance of this firearm. So far, it has been very dependable and accurate. Cleaning , on the other hand has been annoying to say the least. Put your patience hat on when cleaning.

Buds gets five stars great service. That being said the P51 is junk, failure to feed right off. Will contact Remington to see what they can do. Don’t buy the pistol.

Gun is pretty light about what is expected from a subcompact model. I haven’t taken much opportunity to take this one to the range so I can’t speak much on accuracy. What little I shot with it, it has performed well as far as cycling. Feels good in the hand but then I don’t have large hands. I like the fact it can handle plus P ammo. I’m happy with the gun overall and even more so I got it on sale at Buds.

This is my regular carry gun. It is something a bit out of the ordinary as you do not see a lot of these. I am still breaking it in, but so far it has functioned as expected.

Other than the fact the Remington went Chap 11 and won't support this pistol. I think it was a 'Best-Buy' for me. Mine came with the Crimson Trace laser and I purchased 4 additional mags. It loves to shot the hot commie stuff, in fact I think it functions a bit better with that stuff. I have put 2-3,000 through 2 each R51's with 1 malfunction (first 100 or so rounds). Since then it has functioned flawlessly. I will say that it is a PITB to strip down for cleaning but, you do it enough times it's becomes bear able. I have two of these both from Buds and I would give them 4 stars only because if any problems occur that I cannot fix...Remington won't help.

Cheap but reliable so far, recoil is more manageable. Low capacity, but for the price it’s solid. I use it as a beater gun that wouldn’t break the bank if I lost it. Fairly easy to rack, hopefully it lasts a lifetime.

The firearm had a major failure. It is now just a box of useless parts. I shipped back to the factory for repair. The company held on to it, then went bankrupt without a fix. An excerpt from the letter that accompanied the firearm when sent to Remington can be found below. Simply stated, don't buy it. -- I hope this letter finds its way to you. I invested in the Remington R51 for the wonderful form factor and 9MM caliber. My intent was that this firearm would be my EDC (Every Day Carry). Obviously, the size and the width of the pistol is perfect for a more discrete carry. The smooth edges are much better than the blocky alternatives that are out there. The grip safety affords a measure of assurance. I did a bit of research, watching the Remington and NRA videos touting the reliability of the re-factored pistol. That led to my purchase decision. Upon purchase, I cleaned the firearm, then fired 50 rounds, with one stoppage. Satisfied. I purchased 2 holsters and 2 more Remington magazines. I shot 50 rounds again. A couple of stoppages, but figured it was related to normal “break in”. I cleaned the firearm. In my next session I planned to fire 150 rounds to get the firearm fully broken in. I shot 2 magazines loaded with 6 rounds to reduce pressure on the follower. On the 3rd magazine, I fired 2 rounds successfully, then the trigger would not reset. I could drop the magazine and eject the live round by racking the slide, but whatever I did, I could not get the trigger to function. I attempted to disassemble per the Remington provided YouTube video and was unsuccessful. There seems to be an internal jam. Clearly, I cannot trust this firearm as an EDC. That relegates this purchase to a “fun gun” or a “novelty”, which frankly isn’t the point of this design. I am disappointed that I cannot trust this firearm. I suspect that the Pedersen device is a point of failure. Unfortunately, the firearm frame is perfect. The action is not.

It is a good looking little pistol but mine doesn’t feed on the first round if you crowd the magazine full. Remington sent me two more for free to correct the problem but it didn’t cure the problem. It works fine as long as you leave one round out of the mag. The service from Bud’s and Remington were great.

You get what you pay for with this pistol. It is difficult to get more than one or two shots off without the magazine coming loose and falling out.
