Ruger American Ranch Compact 300 AAC Blackout Bolt Action Rifle
[6970]

Just took my new Ruger ranch rifle in 300 blackout to the range for the first time this weekend. Put about 100 rounds of both Remington supersonic and subsonic rounds through it. Used the Nikon P-300 scope designed for this round. It fed and ejected just fine so long as you did it fast and not slow. Accuracy was excellent. Fit and finish were better than expected. The rifle is pleasingly light weight as I'm not a large person. The bolt worked quite well. Above expectations anyway for a sub-$400 rifle. The only downside was the five round rotary magazines. They were a little finicky. The more I used them the better they seem to feed. There appear to be three generations of this magazine denoted by the marking at the front of the feed lip: 1st gen=no symbol; 2nd gen=minus symbol; 3rd gen= plus symbol. This rifle came with one 2nd gen mag and it certainly fed better than the two 1st gen I had bought separately. Of note, the 300 blackout magazines are the same as the .223 mags according to Ruger, which makes sense. On the whole, I really like this rifle and would recommend it.
