I am a new shooter and really didn't know where to start or what caliber or level of rifle to buy. I can tell you that this is a really good rifle for price vs quality. With time spent at the range and some experienced help, this 783 is hittig 1' targets at 200 yards. Very accurate out of the box, had zero established in 10 rounds. I'm totally impressed! I don't know much about scopes but what it comes with gets the job done. I do recommend the rifle. Buds was great and got it to me in 3 business days.
