  • Hi Clement, Yes the .45 is an excellent choice and will cycle though no problem. The pressure will be safe in a rifle. Been shooting this for years. Hope this helps.

  • This load will be fine in the 1873 rifle. The pressure will be safe in a rifle. Pistols are the main concern and HSM recommends not to use in : the following Revolvers: COLT SSA, COLT COWBOY, COLT ANACONDA, RUGER REDHAWK, RUGER NEW VAQUERO (POST 2004). However, I would ask that you seek the blessing of Winchester for safety/warranty reasons at 800-333-3288. (Their answer will matter most).
