Amber, First of all get yourself a .308 bolt gun. You won't regret it. Kick compared to what? Young ladies and women that have shot my .308s do not like the kick even though they hang in there and shoot pretty good groups. Experienced rifle shooters women and men should not have any problem with recoil. There is noticeable recoil. Being very experienced I will not shoot more then 20 rounds per range session with .308. It does kick especially with lighter synthetic stock. The 700 SPS is a fine rifle. Here is a great .308 for a lady. It is not a Remington, but I love mine. I'm 64 and enjoy a value youth .308 check it out.--------budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/97066/moss+27867%2apatriot+20+308+y+scope+synthetic
Recoil, The recoil will not be bad at all. Since recoil is subjective to different folks, I would fire your husband's rifle to test for your self and if recoil is not comfortable, I would look into getting the same model in .243 Caliber.

My husband has one. You’ll like it girl. He bought me a limb saver thinking I would need it but no. It has a nice little kick but nothing crazy, girl!
