BudsGunShop.com - This is a round butt not square?

Rodger, the old 686's had square butts, the newer ones have rounded butts. They changed from square butt to round butt in the mid 1990's. The question was from 2018, obviously no one did their homework before answering. Have a great day!

Rodger, from my understanding the square butt was dropped from the 686 in 1996. The 686+ 7 shot was introduced in 1996, so all 686+ have a round butt. You could contact smith and Wesson at 1-800-331-0852
