Knoxx Spec Ops Stock

Postby shamus84 on Sat Dec 20, 2008 1:28 am

OK, being a newbie @ this whole thing, I was initially wanting to get the 870 Remington 20 gauge w/the Knoxx stock already attached, but the thing is never in stock. I started looking up the Knoxx stock info and was wondering if any of you guys could tell me the difference between a regular 20 gauge recoil and a 12 gauge recoil w/the Knoxx stock on it. Reason being-- I want my wife to be comfortable to shoot whatever shotgun I ultimately pick up, but the 20 gauge just seems to be forever out of reach. Sooooo, would the recoil of a 12 gauge w/a Knoxx stock be comparable to a 20 gauge?

Thanks for any info...

For what it's worth, I read a report on the Spec Ops stock in one of the gun rags couple years ago. The writer claimed it really tamed the 12 ga. down a significant amount.
I'm alright, I just look this way!

The 870 20ga tactical w/ ext mag 6+1 and Knoxx stock is a real good gun imo. You should be able to get it for around $400-500, but you can only order it from/to a Remington Premiere stocking dealer (check manufacturer site for a list) and may have to wait a couple weeks depending on how much Remington volume your local dealer does.

I've put a few hundred rounds (mostly #3 buck at the range... Rem 20B3) through mine with no problems. It also does #4 birdshot and target loads fine when you want to shoot outdoor and save $. Good accuracy, VERY little recoil. I can put 6 or 7 rapid shots on a half silhouette center of mass no problem at 20-25yds. I shoot slower and much less accurate with a 12ga shootin 00 buck (I weight 185lb fwiw). The #3 buckshot in the 870 20ga is my home defense round, and its patterns will be about the size of a softball at 7yd, basketball at 15yd, and maybe beach ball (1.5-2ft diameter?) at 25yds. I can fire through 25-100+ rounds at the range with no shoulder soreness or discomfort at all (again, would not be the case with 12ga), and more important, 20ga shots are faster and more accurate.
