Trouble carrying XD-9 SC during summer?

Postby SSgt Jay on Thu Aug 07, 2008 3:37 pm

I'm trying to figure out the best option for concealed carry of my Springfield XD-9 sub compact during these hot summer months. It's t-shirt and shorts weather, and i'm wondering about a decent IWB holster for this firearm. I haven't been able to find many holsters for this particular firearm  , but I definitely need an IWB. What do you think guys, anyone carry this particular gun in t-shirt/shorts weather? Thanks for your replies!

Sadly I can't even get a M&P compact concealed in summer. I too am a t-shirt and shorts guy. I tend to go for the slim tiny pocket autos or a nice snubby .38.

Have you had any experience carrying an XD sub compact specifically? If so, was it a problem with it printing, or was it not so hard to conceal, but uncomfortable with it being so boxy?

I have several pairs of Columbia "cargo" type shorts. The square, boxy cargo pockets conceal a Taurus PT-140 or Kimber Ultra very well (both more or less XD-9 SC sized). These pocket are velcro secured. Observers might know "something" is there, but not what. The opposite pocket is quite a nice mag holder as well.
"Molon Labe" , if you have the pineapples.

I use a deep concealment shoulder holster for my sig p230, and also S&W 3914 9mm. I am a big guy and as long as the tshirt is dark and loose its pretty good. I wear alot of casual short sleeve shirts and you cant see. There is also one that goes into the front of your pants kinda looks like a small cloth pouch. They show a guy with a 1911 and you cant see it. How comfortable I dont know. just google deep concealment holsters.

Try C & S weapons out of Phx AZ. The website appears to be a search engine (CandSweapons.com) or try 480-358-7978/ 602-434-0224. I use an IWB that is kydex and love it for my G27 (similar in size to XD-9SC).

ccl for xd9 I use a belt clip/leather holster purchased from NRA. a loose shirt untucked and plenty long does just fine. it can be clipped on so the gun is either outside the belt, inside the belt or inside the pants. i like small of back or back of hip depending on where the belt loops are on the particular pants.

I don't want to sound like a salesman here but I really like the Crossbreed Supertuck. I can conceal an XDM 40 with no problem, and it's comfortable, ugly but comfotable.
