The .38 pocket gun

My wife really likes shooting my .38 Charter Arms 2" ss. Is it a female thing or is it just the reliability and lack of complexity that attracts the ladies to the revolvers? Personally I trust a few auto pistols but I rarely think twice about my .38 snubby.

You answered your own question with the reliability and lack of complexity. If it's a female thing, well, I've got about 20 female things in my house and safe.
Smokeless powder and semi-automatic pistols are merely passing fads that will only distract you from the fine art of shooting.

Nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with some pretty ladies.

Only pocket gun is one of the Smith J-frames in Centennial lightweight style. It is a true pocket gun. I just ordered the Smith M&P 340, but the Airweights are good in .38 SPL +P.

Get an Uncle Mike pocket holster and you are set.

Keep the weight under 16 oz. Otherwise you won't like to carry it.

david:
i originally had the same thought as you for a pocket gun. i bought a S&W 637, it's an airweight with the hammer.

i just traded it away because i hated shooting it. the recoil with just target ammo killed my hand. the gun is so small the bottom of the grip would tear up the palm of my hand. it was so bad i never did fire +P ammo...being in my 60s, i have lost some hand strength & it really showed here.

secondly, while practicing at the range, shooting one handed, i couldn't hit a barn door from 20 feet, the shots were well scattered.

the double action trigger pull is good, however, the single action is a hair trigger, all you need to do is lay your finger on the trigger & it shoots.

so, in closing, i'm now searching for another pocket gun...may get a S&W 60 or 64 with 2" bbl...just not sure yet.

Amen. A MIG's worst nightmare.

Roadkill bill....I know exactly what you're talking about as far as not knowing WHEN or exactly in what order things happened until AFTER the fact. Adreniline can produce some very unexpected reactions. Some good and some embarrassingly bad. But I also know that if you're still breathin' and not bleedin'.......at that particular moment, ya don't really give a _____! And eventually, you'll quit shaking. Or whatever else is going on.

Rich, I didn't experiance this while in the Army. I was stateside during my enlistment and didn't see a moment of military combat. Can't say the same for a lot of my friends. It was the jobs (and neighborhoods)I chose afterwards that I was referring to. As well as situations I put myself in before enlisting. I know how to fire & maintain some weapons used at the time but that's all. Just wanted to clear that up. I don't care much for people who lie about their service or combat experiance. In fact, that's one thing that will really piss me off. I was (and am) safe and warm thanks to those who were not. But I wasn't there.
