Postby danger_5150 on Sat Oct 03, 2009 9:36 pm

I am currently in the military stationed at Nellis AFB, NV. I am very interested in buying an XD 45 but at the same time my enlistment is up in a couple months and i will be moving back to California. Advise or tips anyone? :geek:

Or move to AZ... Super easy to carry. No permit required to carry or own, unless concealing of course!

I'm sorry to say that I'm in Cali also. Family is too important to move away from. I found the California DOJ website very helpful http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/. I also discovered that just because it's manufactured to Cali specs, it doesn't mean it can be sold here.

Well it will be easier to buy here than to import it afterwards, though lots of people do. You'll probably need the Handgun Safety Certificate but that's a formality, I read the brochure and aced the test all within ten minutes or so. Geographically most of CA is pretty good about concealed carry, regardless of the rhetoric from people who don't live here. Examples I know well are Mendocino County and Simi Valley, both are pretty much 'shall issue'. The urban areas are mostly very anti gun, at least officially, though I know very few Californian residents who don't at least have an interest in shooting. CA made the ten round mag limit permanent, for all the good it ever did anyone, but I am fortunate that I obtained the high cap mags I need before they were banned. But then most mags aren't dated so how they would know I have no idea, but it's still worth not breaking firearms laws even if they are silly. Good luck in civilian life.

Danger5150:
Thank you so much for your service and bless you in your future.

Since I am from Cali and now living in Nevada I wish you luck on your purchase of a gun. I don't know if the laws go by county, city or state. Nevada is a open carry state. You have to be very careful what you take into Cali. I know a lot of people come over here to the gun shows to buy ammo and guns. Cali is a planet all its own, I guess they actually think the bad guys are going to follow the rules. Cali rules are for the bad guys and not the good guys. I have a 22LR Sig Mosquito that I cannot even take into the state because they don't like the look of it. I think Buds says whether a gun can be sold in California. I would try to buy what I want from an indivdual and forget the rest. Thats how the bad guys do it and they don't get bothered. Personally when Obama decides we must give up our weapons if they aren't registered they don't know about them. I'm all for following the rules but when they become silly and stupid like Cali is I don't feel bad cheating now and then. You might buy your gun and register it here and when you move just forget to register it.
