"Zombies"??

May I be so dumb as to ask, what in hell are people referring to as "Zombies" on this and other forums??
I don't get out much, I guess!! :?
I'm alright, I just look this way!

I've seen it too. I think it's just a joke on gun/survival message boards meaning exactly what it says: a situation where zombie hordes appear and are attacking people (like in video games or Dawn of the Dead type movies).

Example: "Why in the heck do you have four AR-15s, three SKS, and 10k rounds in your gun case? Expecting zombies?"
Another example: http://www.zombiesarecoming.com/ (I think this site is a joke... not sure, but funny regardless) :P
