The finish is better than I was expecting. There wasn't one ding or scratch. All superficial, but it was still nice. Everything fits extremely tight and it is just sexy as he**. I also ordered some larue index clips. The GI mags look used and beat up, but who cares... They work and I was paying for the Colt. Just bought a few hundred rounds and can't wait to get this thing out. The m4a1 roll mark is cool to see as well. Obviously a quality rifle and better than I was hoping for, even on a high priced rifle.

Absolutely love this rifle. I took it out a couple of days ago with 120 rounds of American Eagle and didn't have the first failure. Rifle came in beautiful condition and with everything expected. Fit and finish was much better than I expected. At first I didn't care for the 2 Colt steel mags that came with it but after shooting them and then a Magpul Gen3 I don't mind them at all. They are quality and work flawlessly with the rifle. I suggest getting some Larue index clips to protect the nice Daneil Defense RIS II rail. Great price for an amazing gun.

Just buy it, especially at this low price! I paid 1300 for mine and would do it again in a heartbeat. The rifle is very tight fitting and the finish is perfect. I don't care too much for the metal magazines but it's better than nothing. I am extremely pleased with this rifle and highly recommend it.

Outstanding Rifle, great combination of the 12" Daniels Defense RIS II rail and Colt reliability, I've put a few hundred rounds of M855 through mine and have had no failures of any kind, it's operated flawlessly and accurately. The Rifle also looked great out of the box, no marks at all, just the factory grease. One thing to know is that there is no front sight sling attachment due to the 12" Daniels rail, you will have to add your preferred style of sling mount to the rail. There have been no issues mounting any of my accessories (red dot, vertical grip, weapon light, sling mount) to the rail, as to be expected from the RIS II. Half the fun of owning this Socom II is adding gear to customize your rifle, the other half is shooting it! There's a reason why this is the rifle our Special Operations troops are using, it's a reliable, great shooting, easily adaptable weapons platform.

First, you spend the money for a Colt to get what is assumed, a good gun that is straight and made to last. My purchase has given me the pit in the stomach feeling since I brought it home from the dealer. Yes, I saw there was no "1 of 1500" documentation advertised. But, I didn't see the missing screw on the Daniel Defense rail. Nor, did I tear open the sealed plastic pouch which contained an oily mess of grease and tools barely touching the mostly worthless generic book. Or, the two mags that look like someone at the factory was doing a lot of shooting with my gun and didn't know which end goes into the mag well.

Daniel Defense stepped up, and is sending the screw, actually a free packet and I thank them for standing up. I will order the front strap mount for the rail so the included Colt strap will actually have something one can attach the front strap to on this special model. And Colt today said they will replace the mags with new ones if I send them in. Too hot to shoot here in AZ, so OK, that solves the second problem.

Which leaves the providence issue of proving this gun is something special for collector reasons. Daniel Defense said they just sell the parts, nothing more. Colt, so far says there is no ability to tell me which # mine is out of the 1500 made. Nor, to date, has the ability to give me any kind of documentation this this weapon "is" what it was advertised by gun dealers as being. Special. 1 of 1500. It seems my good money has paid for a marketing concept that can not be backed up or proven. Running the serial number on the Colt site says it was made in 2012. Old inventory. With the used mags...

Finally the weather cleared enough to test this weapon. The good stuff: It shoots very well and I never had an instance of failure to feed or fire with any of the different ammunition I used. It is also very solid and well made; Fit and Finish are what you would expect from a High Priced Colt. I fired approximately 150 rounds and the function was excellent. The rifle is nice and light and the barrel is Heavy profile.
Bad Stuff: Sights are adequate but if you want a 100 yd. Tack Driver invest in a good optic, Red Dot or Good Tactical Scope-The rifle has a very good rail System so any good choice will work. The existing fold down sights work well in a pinch and will allow groups of 6-8" at 100 yds. but you can get better results. The magazines seem light and cheap but polymer mags are a little difficult to insert so I can see the need to use thin metal mags. I used Syntech mags and they were difficult to install and I did not try Magpul. The last thing is the strap. I cannot find a point of attachment on the front so right now its useless. Maybe I'm missing something but there's nothing in the manual (that I can find) to illustrate how it works.
Overall a nice rifle and over time will probably be worth the money but no matter what you pay, get ready to shell out another $300-500 for a good scope. Still think Colt should pay a little more attention to the small stuff like the manual and the magazines. For almost 2 G's every type magazine should slide in smooth as butter. 4 Stars

Love this COLT. Plan to pass it down to one of my boys. Buds had it to me in just a few days after auction closed.
Will do business with them again.A++
