Slide locks in the open position when using these 20 round mags. Not a problem with the two 17 round mags supplied with the pistol. Am I not operating correctly?

You are operating correctly Marc. This sounds like some slightly out of spec magazines that sit slightly higher and is prematurely engaging the slide lock on the pistol. I would give Beretta a holler for advice/resolution or possible replacement at 1-800-BERETTA extension 2003.

I assume that you are talking about locking back the slide while you still have ammo in the magazine. they should work just like the 17 round mags I suggest that you take a follower out of the 17 round mag and try it in the 20 round mag. I would also try shooting the 20 rounders with 10 rounds in them and see if it still has the problems ( to strong spring). You can also load 20 rounds in them and let them sit for a while to loosen the springs other that that I suggest call in Beretta to ask for any insight on the problem Beretta contact 1 8002373882
