The ARmOptics from Bushnell are great. Get the 308 version. I solely use Vortex rings so I recommend them highly sir.

Richard, I highly recommend either 308 calibrated Nikon M or P -TAC (I would personally get the upscale M-TAC) Scopes depending on your price point. budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/712016092/nik+m-tac+4-16x42sf+308+matte+bdc+800 -------- budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/712016093/nik+p-tac+4-12x40+308+matte+bdc+800 -------- The rings for the M1A should be sturdy : budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/85776/nikon+835+rings%2fmount+for+p-series+1%22+style+black+finish

Richard - I suggest that first, you identify exactly what you want to do with your M1, then buy your scope accordingly. I'm partial to Vorex products, and they have scopes that pretty much cover the field, price and quality wise, from modest to high. Of course, the standards like Leupold are good too. Pick the power scope you'll need to accomplish what you want to do, then buy the best scope and mounting system you can. Then, unless you have experience in mounting a scope, have it mounted by a professional. You'll be glad you went the extra steps, once you start shooting that M1. Sweet rifles BTW ...

Richard, Lot of good scope rings on the market. I would find a good scope (3 to 9) or (4 to 12) power scope and get size rings that match the scope tube. Just make sure you lap the rings and get everything level and tight.
