yes it is safe but is not as clean as better quality ammo and will require more frequent cleaning of your gun. Many times you can buy brass collect it and sell the brass to a reloader to make it less expensive than steel

Hi Frank, Yes, you can buy and shoot ANY commercial .06 ammunition in existance for the 1917. It has a 1x10 twist barrel. There is no particular/specific accuracy advantage between 150, 165, 180 grain bullets.

Frank, it is Sir, but steel does not expand/seal as well as brass cased ammo and will dirty up the Pistol much quicker. Decent brass cased ammunition is not much more these days.
