  • I would go with the Shield on this one. It has the right combination of all these requirements. The 9mm will serve you better "self-defense" wise compared to a .22 - Plus there is a current S&W Rebate : Consumers that purchase any new qualifying M&P Full-Size, Compact or M&P Shield pistol from July 1, 2017 to September 30, 2017 will be eligible to receive two (2) boxes of Hornady Critical Defense® ammunition, two (2) additional M&P magazines and a Caldwell® Mag Charger® Universal Pistol Loader, for a total MSRP value of $180. Consumers residing in Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. states with restrictions on magazine capacities and/or ammunition transfers will be eligible for a $75 mail-in cash rebate with the purchase of qualifying pistols.

  • If you are considering a Concealed Carry I would not choose a .22. 9mm has been proven time and time again to be one of the best carry you can have. I use a 9mm myself (fn9sc 9mm). 9mm has a tremendous amount of stopping power compared to .22. Smith & Wesson guns should leave you with no reliability worries. They are great, craftsmanship is always top notch. And a great plus is Buds Gun Shop is always here to help if you have any issues on items sold. I would recommend M&P 9mm (or any well machined 9mm) for carry, range/target shooting, and home defense. The .22 caliber was really made out if necessity to hunt & get rid out small pests and game. They're great for the range but from a self defenders stand point I wouldn't recommend concealing a .22 caliber. You also want at least 10-12 rounds in the clip/mag. to insure you not only have the power but quantity.
    Hope this helps!
