Jeffrey, it will work with the high brass bird loads through buck shot. Setting 3 is for 2-3/4” Shells Velocity 1250 - 1450 FPS Load ≥1 Oz. Setting 2 is for 2-3/4” Shells Velocity 1350 – 1600 FPS Load ≥1-1/8 Oz. Setting 1 is for 3” Magnum Shells. (some low brass bird shot is less than 1250 FPS).

there is such a wide variety of 12 ga shells that the only way to know for sure is to try them. even if I had one that worked with everything yours may not. I have a 12 ga that will not work with any federal shell and another of the exact same model that has on problems with them
