  • How is the recoil on a Springfield 1911? 45 acp.
Would a beginner be able to handle the recoil?
Or would it be too much.
    What do you think

  • 1911s do not convert (with a few exceptions) easily from 1 caliber to another because the feed ramp is machined into the frame
It would depend on the beginner now you can get 22 lr conversions that will fit a 1911 but for the price of the conversion you can buy a nice 22lr handgun (gsg1911). If you try a .45acp with a beginner I suggest only loading 1 round in the gun until you see how they do Here is a link to a GSG 1911 22lr it is a great training gun and shooting 20 less boxes of .45 will pay for the gun in ammo price savings budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/62297/ATI+2210M1911+M1911+10%2B1+22LR+5

  • Hi Jose,
It depends, If you have a firm grip I think you could handle it. Maybe go to your local range and rent one

  • No a beginner would not be able to handle the recoil of the 1911 in 45 ACP. It would be better to get the Springfield 1911 in 9mm to learn on. Cheaper ammo too so you would be able to afford to practice more often.

  • This will depend on the ammunition used Jose. If you are a beginner, I would recommend looking into a 9mm Conversion kit to start with for this pistol. Once you become proficient with the controls and recoil levels of the 9mm then you can easily swap back to the 45ACP as well as have a dual caliber pistol.
