The centerfire single-shot rifle features a matte finish with a steel frame. It also features a 22" round barrel, with adjustable buckhorn and brass bead sights and is drilled/tapped for optional scope use. The stock is constructed of walnut, with a curved pistol grip wrist and solid rubber recoil pad. The action has no external manual safety; it uses a rebounding hammer that can't touch the firing pin unless the trigger's deliberately pulled, and an interlock system that doesn't allow the barrel to open if the hammer's cocked, or the barrel to close if the hammer's cocked while it's open.

Specifications:

  • Weight: 7.18 lbs
  • Barrel Description: Round
  • Receiver Material: Steel
  • Sights: Semi-Buckhorn Rear, Bead Front
  • Hand: Right

What's to say other than it's a Henry. Well one thing. If you need glasses or distance it's difficult to use iron sights. And again its difficult to mount a scope. Pretty much have to buy a rail from henry made by evolution. I bought a vortex 3x9x40 crossfire package with weaver MEDIUM rings. Too low and had a hammer clearance issue. Switched to high rings. Sighted in at 75 yds with a 3" group. I have went back further yet but feel it will be very accurate at 250+.. I get factory reman ammo to budget my cost . Sure other .223 rifles are available, mostly AKs ,but I wanted a single shot, which requires less ammo, and improve shooting skills. Good marksmanship only takes one.

Excellent rifle. I was fortunate to find out in today's firearm frenzy market. Well made and a fine caliber to own.

Excellent no frills rifle for hunting, homesteading and when your AR-15 breaks. High quality, made in the USA and just plain fun to shoot. Dead on at 100 yards with factory sights, without any adjustment. Recommended, all day long.

If Henry does anything it is to build quality firearms and this rifle is no exception. Out of the box this rifle is stunning with it's wood nicely figured and good metal finish. Then you get to the fun part which is the shooting! I bought this gun to patrol my fish farm to remove varmints and this gun shoots most any load I use very well. It's not a target rifle but I didn't pay a thousand dollars for it either! If you are looking for something that won't break the bank and still provide decent accuracy give this rifle a good look. A 30 road clip doesn't do you any good if you can't make the first round count!

The fit and finish of the Henry single-shot .223 are beautiful. I was very pleasantly surprised by the walnut stock. I mounted a basic 3x - 9x scope and after a bore sighting, went to the range. A final 3 shot zeroing in had the rifle shooting consistent 1/2 inch groupings. My only complaint is the trigger, which is very heavy and has an on/off feel, with nothing in between. It could use some work for sure. The rifle is light and compact with very little recoil and is definitely a keeper.

This break breach 223 is very accurate and fun to shoot. I use it for hunting and target shooting and has been a good purchase! I would highly recommend this gun!

I purchased the Henry break action single shot for it's short overall length for a 22" barreled rifle..I hand load for mine, and find that it likes mid to heavy for caliber bullets. It seems they have a long throat, and it takes a pretty substantial bullet to reach the lands..I have found mine to really favor the Speer 70gr semi spitzer, and 63 gr Sierra semi point, which are some of what I have on hand, and this fact pleases me personally because these are my favorite 22 cal hunting projecties..I loaded some Hornady 55gr pointed soft points, and some 52 gr match that I have on hand, and they shoot alright as well, but I bought it to hunt with, and I am tickled that it likes the beefier bullets.

The furniture on this rifle is excellent. Some reviews stated the trigger needed improvement on pull. Mine is crisp and light. Its a coyote killing machine! Only regret is not buying one sooner!
