Solid rifle. Shooting Hornady ELDX with a Tunney trigger and hitting eggs at 400yds.

Accurate is putting it mildly! With a custom matched load, this rifle holds phenomenal groups (I've tested at 1.125" @ 400 yds). The ONLY issue I've had is that I had to do a little build-up on the rear of the receiver to bed the optics. A tad heavy to carry a mile or two hunting, but tolerable.

Buds Gun Shop is the best. As a military veteran and active Federal Law Enforcement Enforcement Firearms Instructor I have repeatedly experienced outstanding service from Buds. Their prices are some of the best. Shipping is immediate. I recently purchased a Remington 700 5R in 308. Love the fluted and threaded barrel. Rifle looks great and shoots like a champ. I highly recommend BudsGunShop.

The Remington 700 I received arrived well packed and no damage evident. However, when I took the gun apart for the initial cleaning prior to attempting to fire for the first time I discovered that the breech face had a gouge and chatter marks from the machining process. This should never have been overlooked or passed inspection. It is obvious to me there was/is an issue with the manufacture process(yes, I do this for a living). I contacted Remington- 3-4 weeks to repair a brand new- never fired gun. Needless to say- I am not happy. Additionally- the action in this gun has been compared to the old 40X- I have a rimfire 40X that I used in target competition and there is no comparison- the 40X is much smoother and tighter. Also, the stamped bolt stop is not flat and rubs in the channel it is supposed to ride in and blocks access to the pin to remove the trigger for service or replacement. These are characteristics of poor design. My high expectations based on the 40X performance and design have already been shattered and I have yet to put a round through the barrel of the 700.

Awesome product. This rifle handles like no other factory rifle and the features for this price point set this apart from all the rest. The HS Precision stock is sweet, palm swell is odd but the texture is awesome. I mounted a 5-25x50 Zeiss HD-5 with high Talley rings, swapped to the trigger and then headed to the range. I was breaking in the barrel with affordable PMC bronze 147 he and managed a .65” group. I think this is pretty complete for my needs. The recoil is not bad but after 40 rounds you could be tender. I have not mounted any muzzle devices as of yet.

The 3 stars are for the primary extraction issues that RR serial number Remington rifles are known for. The rifle looks good with the HS Precision stock. I had no issues with my barrel free floating and the cerakote finish looked good. I was able to fire about 60 rounds through the gun before I started facing primary extraction issues. Remington wanted me to ship it off to be fixed with no guarantee of getting that gun back pending the issue, not going to happen when I have $$$ invested in more cerakote work and custom cheek piece installed in the stock. I just paid $$$ to have a local rifle company re-time the bolt so the cams do their job and then more $$$ to cerakote the bolt again. If you are willing to spend the money getting the primary extraction fixed right away or buy a different bolt and check headspace, this would be a great rifle to learn on. I was breaking the barrel in with federal sierra match 168 grain and was able to get consistent 3/4 to 1'' groups before copper fouling through a stray one. It would be a 5 star rifle but Remington needed to spend a little more time on the bolt cam design they once had on their bolt action rifles.

Careful buying this model guys. I ordered from Bud's on 12/15 and it was received at my FFL on 12/21. I went out shooting on 12/22 and found that after firing the very first factory Hornaday 150gr SST. The round would not extract. I actually had to stand the rifle up and step on the bolt with some force. I cleaned after round and found that most Federal rounds were sticking in the chamber after firing. The brass was also getting damaged in the chamber or during extraction. I shot 33 rounds through it hoping the issue was a small burr that needed to be worked out. About half the rounds had the extraction issue and seemed an issue with Federal casings mainly. 168gr and 175gr MatchKings were a problem every time. Good news it that is was shooting about 0.5-.75MOA with my SWFA SS 10x44 setup. After inspecting the rifle, I noticed that the bolt was not engaging the cam on the action which meant there was no leverage to extract the casing. The firearm was shipped back to Remington on 12/30 which ended up going to Paducah Shooter's Supply. I contacted Remington for a status today (1/11) since their tracking website didn't even recognize my serial number. I spoke with a customer service person at Remington that said "it says they are working on it" with no other inputs on the problem or when it would be done. Then he said "wait a few more weeks and maybe they will have it updated". Needless to say, I will never buy another rifle from Remington. Buds, yes...Remington, no way. I'm only giving it 2 stars because it was a good shooter but not worth the hassle. I should have bought I high end Savage for $1145!!!

This rifle has the capabilities of punching a single hole at a hundred yards if only I could hold it that well. Out of the box it is an excellent gun, but I found one fault with it and that was the trigger. I used the manual and adjusted per the instructions, but it made very little difference in the pull weight. I adjusted a full two turns which should have drop the trigger pull into the "don't breath too hard" territory. However, it made very little difference. I called Remington and discussed with them and they wanted my brand new rifle back to check the trigger out. I get it due to the liability but, I don't want to give my new rifle up. They just forced me to do something I was going to anyway adding the cost of the Timney Trigger. This rifle is still a great shooter for the money. Like I said in the beginning, this rifle will shoot much better than I can hold it. Maybe I had a bad trigger from the get go. If you are into long range, this will satisfy your needs, but please don't waste your money putting a cheap scope on it. It deserves a good scope to reach it's potential.
