Neil Groth ,I was excited to get my 1873 frontier Pietta ,but one week after receiving the gun it already broke down , fortunate that i have worked on other guns so quickly found out that the cylinder stop was broken , so order parts for the gun because to return the the gun is to much of a hassel . Nice gun bad parts.

Smooth shot, easy to clean, shockingly little kick back.. HOWEVER! After the background check cleared and I was able to get the gun in my possession, I had it less than a week and the trigger broke! Good shot, but the bad review is for the terrible trigger design!

The gun is a very well made, solid, nice looking piece. It shoots a nice small, well centered group with my loads. BUT, it hits about a foot low at 25 yds. I've tried different powders, bullet weights, crimps, etc. with no change in elevation. I've had this trouble once before with a different "cowboy gun"( but only a couple of inches) and a few strokes with a file cured that problem and brought it to point of aim. File work on this extreme would leave me with no front sight, so I'll call the company. These things happen and I'm sure it will be an easy fix if I have to send it back for repair. I'll continue to buy from Bud's Guns and Traditions....both great companies.

The Traditions Frontier 45 revolver is a very nice gun. It is accurate and a real solid feeling pistol. The color case hardened finish looks great! I am proud of this gun; it's not made for heavy loads like my Ruger Super Blackhawk, but standard pressure loads shoot great through it. I am impressed with this pistol. If you want a nice Colt 1873 clone go for this! As for Buds , I ordered this 9/13/15, and they had it to me the 15th. That is FAST! I highly recommend Buds and this gun. A+++++

Solid construction. Functions excellently. Beautiful finish. Easy to shoot. I might have chosen the Traditions nickel plated or the checkered grip model instead but from the pictures of them both at Buds website and at Traditions website indicate that these particular models is made only for left handed people. I am right-handed. A right-handed model has the ejection rod handle on the left side of the barrel for operation by the left hand while the cylinder gate is on the right side so that right hand thumb turn the cylinder and hold the gun grip at the same time. The difference is not immediately noticeable by people who do not actively participate in cowboy shooting competition.

The Traditions Frontier 1873 chambered in 45LC is an awesome gun. The fit and finish are very clean and the CCH finish on the gun really pops. The action is very smooth and crisp with little to no play. The maple grips look great with the natural wood grains very visible. A great value for the $$ compared to other 1873 Colt replicas. Buds online process is very efficient with process and shipping updates.

Got two with usual great service from Buds. I wanted transfer bar safety models so as to carry all six chambers safe. Excellent fit and finish although triggers a little gritty to start, should smooth up with use. Only fired 10 rounds each of Hornady Critical Defense ammo with no issues and good accuracy as per my ability. I plan on usinf full power standard Colt ammo not bb gun cowboy ammo. Recoil was very comfortable with standard ammo for which these gun are rated. I have 8 stainless Vaqueros all with 4 5/8in barrels. These are a great addition to my single action collection.

There are a lot of replicas (clones) on the market and it is very difficult to pick among them. I sold a New Vaquero in 357 for this beautiful revolver. The bluing is just what I like which is blue/black. The best part of this firearm aside from price is the color case hardened frame and hammer. I have no doubt that the CCH is just as nice as firearms costing 2x as much. This gun locks up tight and the cylinder has no movement whatsoever. This sixgun has 3 clicks with transfer bar. Unlike the vaquero, if you load six, you'll have to bring the down on a live round. If your in the market for a saa clone at a very affordable price, this is it. Buy One!
