Tikka T1X MTR 17 HMR Bolt Action Rifle - Blue/Black, 20" Barrel, 10+1 Rounds, Synthetic, Black Synthetic Stock

Typical Tikka, excellent function and accuracy!

This is a tack driver. I have an Anschutz in .17 hmr and love the caliber for PD shooting in South Dakota and needed a backup rifle. I've always wanted to try a Tikka and thought this was a relatively inexpensive introduction (compared with the Anschutz). Using Hornady 20gr it produced a 4 shot clover leaf with the fifth bullet 1/8" from his friends. This was at 50 yds on a breezy day using Tally Rings and a Burris 3x9 scope. The trigger is exceptional. The stock feels comfortable but inexpensive. Okay it feels *cheap* so I was a little concerned but with the minimal amount of recoil on a rimfire it appears to perform well. I'd complain but with the groups we got out of it without any breakin I'd highly recommend this rifle. Add an aftermarket stock if you want but honestly it doesn't actually need one.

The T1x is in a class of its own at this price range. I was able to safely bring the trigger to 1.25 pounds with just a spring change and an adjustment. I should mention that I also have the .22 model and that trigger adjusted to 1.0 lbs. On both I put the factory rubber butt-pad. larger beaver tail and pistol grip extension. All in soft rubber that is really hard and a bit soft. I also put DIP 0 MOA cut out scope rails with cut outs.That is so the one shot mags I ordered will work perfectly. Then I installed a second bench rest style strap stud to mount my Harris bi pod to.They is now a truly MTR Multi Task Rifles. I have not shot them yet but feel assured of their reputation. Also picked up extra mags due to their high quality. For this price the upgrades were still in the reasonable range. Buds delivery to my New Buds Site Recommended dealer was Super Quick. At a time when my dealer told me to call in two months when things slow down Buds made it happen within two weeks. New friends forever.Just to mention there are slight differences between the .22 and.17 models. The .22 stock comes off with a 4mm hex bit. The .17 are torx screws. I believe the triggers have slightly different tolerances. So slight I doubt many will even notice. You will not find a better full sized .22 .
