COLT XM177E2 AR-15 .223 Remington | 5.56 NATO REISSUE - Blue/Black, 16.1" Barrel, 20+1 Rounds, Synthetic Stock

The Colt XM177E2 Retro is the Holy Grail of the AR-15 series. The history with MACSOG makes it worth the price and it is a Colt. It is the closest that most of us will be able to own to an original. The rifle came flawless in its finish and appearance. It is an heirloom rifle that you can pass on to your children.

I examined the barrel on my Colt and I believe that it is a 14.5" barrel and not the advertised 11.5" barrel. The barrel's rifling is uninterrupted from the lede to the crown. I have never seen a rifled muzzle device, let alone one that is rifled and its' grooves match perfectly to the barrel's rifling. I suspect that Colt silver soldered the faux compensator over a 14.5" barrel. This is why you do not see any Colt markings on the barrel. Once I find a replacement barrel, I am seriously considering taking a cutting wheel to the compensator to prove my point. And, if I find a 14.5" barrel and not the advertised 11.5" barrel, I will definitely consider suing Colt.

COLT XM177E2 AR-15 Reissue- The quality and workmanship is really top notch regardless who made it. There is little difference from the XM177E2 and this reissue model except barrel length, moderator and select fire. A little pricy but you get what you pay for. I remember my CO. in Nam carrying the same weapon. I remember it well and have pictures of Him with it on our operations in 1969. I already had purchased the Colt M16A1 reissue and was so impressed with it, I had to complete the set. I am VERY glad I did by purchasing this rifle! The effort that Colt put into this rifle shows, and it gets almost every detail completely right... the aluminum stock, the Bakelite hand-guards are awesome, and the grey finish is extremely well done! It's expensive, but well worth it IMO if you're serious about trying to as authentic as possible with your retro rifle purchases
