This particular Panther model features a set of forged aluminum upper and lower receivers which are standard throughout the industry as meeting the military specification. The crown jewel of this rifle is the 16" Lightweight FNC Melonite treated barrel. The Ferritic Nitrocarburizing is a hardening process which improves barrel performance over mil-spec chrome plating in terms of barrel longevity, corrosion resistance and accuracy. By diffusing carbon and nitrogen into the barrel steel rather than adding a layer of material (as is the case in traditional chrome plating) the LCAR barrel is more durable and corrosion resistant without negatively effecting accuracy.

Honestly, one of the best ARs for the money. The DPMS Oracle gets a lot of attention, but this is really a better rifle. This rifle has a 4150 CMV nitrated barrel while the Oracle is only 4140 CMV. However, it is a little on the heavy side (8.5lbs), but this is really not a problem for me. I bought this and a $700 bushmaster at the same time and kind of wish I had bought two of these. Upgrade the furniture, think about upgrading the trigger, and youll be good to go. (Most mil-spec rifles come with garbage triggers by the way) But, this one really wasn't as bad as most.
