Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 442 38 Special Revolver - Blue/Black, 1.88" Barrel, 5 Rounds, Laser Grips, 2-Dot Sights

I purchased the performance 442 with enhanced trigger and really like the lighter trigger pull over the standard 442 that I have carried and practiced with for several years now. After an easy adjustment on the laser it is very accurate when holding steady on target and it increases my confidence and shot placement while keeping the footprint of the revolver basically the same concealable size of an oem rubber boot grip. I have shot 200 rounds through it so far and I'm very happy with it.

Disappointed - not with Buds - but with S/W. The crimson trace beam hits the edge of the cylinder and causes 2+ dots on the target with significant bleed off of the beam to the right side. Had the gun for a week, never fired - then sent to S/W for repair. After waiting a month they sent it back - nothing was done to fix it; one would assume a Performance Center Model would be flawless. This one is such a disappointment - will be the first and last one I buy after I sell it. Buds was outstanding from a service standpoint and shipping. S/W is a whole other story - I expect this level of quality from China and not from the US.

Fit and finish is without question. The performance center trigger job is smooth though I feel the trigger pull is still to heavy. The crimson trace grip is small. I struggle to activate the red dot. Hind sight, just get the plane Jane 442 for half the price.

Very fast service and was what I expected.

As someone who has not fired a gun in nearly 10 years, I must say that I was somewhat hesitant about purchasing this firearm (see: price tag). Today, I fired my first 50 rounds (American Eagle 130 Grain Round Nose in case you're wondering). Here is my honest opinion about the Smith and Wesson 442 Performance Center so far:
Pros: Nice trigger, incredibly lightweight, and very easily concealed (it was actually much smaller in person than I expected it to be). Nice-looking firearm; the pictures just don't do it any justice. It was an absolute pleasure to shoot, and has really inspired me to practice more with it. The gun does exactly as advertised; load it up, point, and shoot, simple and effective. No hiccups whatsoever; I can easily see this firearm becoming a lifelong companion, and I feel that I can readily depend upon it.
And now..
Cons: The price is steep for a J Frame revolver; really you're only getting CT Laser Grips and a Smith and Wesson tuned trigger (which is.. really, really nice). However, I honestly don't care much for the laser grips; I think that they may even be slightly off, but I'll have to confirm this on my next shooting trip. I may just need some more range time with them.
Final Word: All-in-all you pay a hefty premium for a J Frame revolver that may only be slightly better than the next, but I was impressed with this revolver regardless; it handled smoothly and has revitalized the firearms enthusiast in me again. I must also say that as a first time customer, Bud's Gun Shop was incredibly responsive and no-nonsense; I received my firearm within a week. Thanks Buds!!
