1. The Canik Combat Elite has the best trigger for a striker fired weapon that I have ever experienced. The take up is smooth, the trigger is crisp and clean at break, and the reset is absolutely phenomenal!
2. This is one of the flattest shooting 9mm I have ever shot in a polymer frame weapon. Only full metal frame weapons have less recoil impulse than this weapon.
3. The Salient Arms fluted match barrel is awesome, and the accuracy provided through that barrel,is excellent is you shoot to the level the barrel can provide you with.
4. The Salient Arms mag well allows fast reloads as the magazines funnel to the mag well easily.
5. Great bonus of the Vortex Viper Red Dot coming with this weapon; 2 comments, bottom loading battery so the Vortex red dot must be removed from the weapon to change out the battery, and the rear sight is removed when adding the Vortex Viper red dot, so no co-witness from a rear sight available.
6. Had 4-5 failures to eject casings and 2 loads of new rounds but trigger failed to reset to fire after 200 initial rounds. In discussions with the folks at my local range, they had heard that the Canik Combat Elite requires “hotter loads” such as Winchester white box 124 grain nato loads. I did fire some of those along with Fiocchi 115 grain, CCI 124 grain, and Geco 115 grain. Honestly did not pay attention to which rounds had the issue, a certain brand, or across the board. Will do follow-up at range and also speak with Canik technical support.
All in all, an excellent weapon, but for now it only qualifies as a range gun until the FTE issues mentioned above are resolved and I can count on this as a home defense, IDPA use platform. As usual Bud’s ordering nd delivery were spot on. Thanks Bud’s!
