Smith & Wesson M&P Shield M2.0 Optics Ready 9mm Pistol - Blue/Black, 4" Barrel, 8+1 Rounds, Polymer Grips, Night Sights

Solid gun, not a fan that the red dot didn’t come attached and the tools they sent were not correct, so have a generic Allan wrench set on hand. I prefer this gun with its built in sights vs the added red dot

I purchased this in the fall of 2020 and am about to go through the CCW process after the SCOTUS Bruen decision. The pistol has performed flawlessly and shoots accurately for what it is. In my state we have to pass a shooting test at distances of 3, 5, 7, 10 & 15 yards, 4 second draw and split times of 2-4 seconds on an IPSC target with different points awarded for zones A-C. The trigger is lighter than my friend's Glock 43. I'm sure the longer barrel, trigger and red dot help with both accuracy and speed. I can, however, shoot smaller groups with a full-size pistol at 10 & 15 yards. (My friend's Glock shoots fine too). The single stack magazine and slim grip allow my fingers to wrap around and control recoil. The stippling on the grip is rough and tough on clothes, but helps maintain a solid grip. The pistol came with a Crimson Trace CTS-1500 5moa red dot. It takes a 2032 battery and the sight must be removed from the slide to replace the battery. Like the pistol it's performed flawlessly. The cutout on the red dot allows co-witnessing with the easy to see fiber-optic "iron" sights.

I own both this gun and the original Shield, which I'm keeping as well. I bought the PC Shield mostly for the optics cut and included red dot. The SMS red dot quit after 4 months, but S&W sent me a new one but it took a while. No issues with the replacement red dot. The trigger job on the PC Shield almost equals the Apex trigger I put on the original Shield, so I didn't feel the need to do a trigger job on the new gun. When I bought this gun in July of 2019 it was so new to the market that holsters were scarce. I bought a Dara IWB Kydex holster with an optic cut. The Shield's grip is aggressive enough that I cut a piece of leather that was extended to cover the grip and glued it on with 3M spray adhesive (good stuff). With the modified holster the gun conceals well under an untucked shirt. It shoots reliably and accurately. Buds shipped the gun quickly to me with no issues.
