CVA Optima V2 209 26" Stainless/Xtra Green 50 Cal Black Powder Rifle Muzzleloader

this gun shoots great once you figure out the proper load. The only complaint I have about this gun is, the sights could be better. The front sight fell off after 5 rounds through it. I’ll be looking for better sights this summer

Great design and easy clean out for a black powder. Still experimenting with loads to get a 1” group. Ramrod is short and needs an extension for cleaning. You won’t be disappointed shooting 209’s because they go boom everytime

Very pleased with the gun…great value for the money. We can’t use scopes in CO, so the fixed sights are a necessity and these included sights are very adequate and visible in marginal light. With Blackhorn 209 powder and heavier Powerbelt Platinum bullets, this gun shoots <1.5” groups at 100 yards. Additional purchase: I did get the CVA AC1611BH to accommodate the Blackhorn 209 powder

Bought this for Early Elk muzzle loading season, here in Washington State. This was my first inline muzzleloader, it surely did not disappoint, very accurate sighted in at the range in about an hour, and with the removable breach plug, it was the easiest cleaning smoke pole I have ever owned. Lighter than my old hawken style, much easier carrying up and down the hills of the Gifford Pinchot National forest. Didn't get to shoot an Elk with it this year, but it handily took down a black bear. All around great muzzle-loading rifle, highly recommend to anyone looking for a new black-powder rifle. And of course buds service was great as usual!

Excellent product. Ease of operation and excellent craftsmanship for a mass produced gun. Accurate in all conditions, simple to clean. Overall the best gun available for the cost. Buds Gun Shop was the best place to purchase and made the experience a wonderful process.

This is a very nice inline muzzleloader. It is accurate and (more than accurate enough for hunting). I was shooting 2.5 inch groups at 100 yards. And that was the first time I ever shot a muzzleloader not knowing what bullet or powder charge it likes best (maybe I got lucky and got both right, lol, 290g Barnes sabots, 80 grains Blackhorn 209). Two things I don't like. 1. The trigger is to light for my tastes for hunting. It has to be around 2lbs (compared to my 3.5lbs AR trigger it feels like a hair trigger). 2. The trigger guard/barrel break lever can be easy to accidentally engage if shooting off a improvised rest (e.g. backpack, log, ammo box with padded towels, etc.) If you push the rifle forward and press on the trigger guard it can release fairly easily. Just something to be conscious of so it does't become an issue. I guess a third would be not many available options for mounting optics. But that likely applies to all muzzleloaders I'd probably opt for the more expensive Accura if I did it again just to get the adjustable trigger. I'm going to eventually have a gunsmith work on this trigger to see if I can get it to around 4lbs. For what it will cost me I could have had the better Accura barrel and adjustable trigger. If you like and are comfortable with light trigger pulls, then definitely consider the Optima. It's accurate and a pleasure to shoot.

I decided to purchase this gun after seeing some of the YouTube video's which were amazing once I received them, which the delivery was very quick and packaged very well, I was amazed how nice they really were, no regrets. I will be buying more guns from Buds in the future. Thanks bob

I got a great deal from Bud's and the rifle was shipped quickly. Packaging was a little "skimpy" and was crushed but rifle was ok. Have not shot it yet but am disappointed with the short ramrod. I shoot loose powder and need to install the extension to fully seat a bullet. I'm not going to like this out in the field. This is not Bud's fault but CVA's. CVA built this for guys who use pelletized powder blocks not loose powder shooters. Powder pellets are not allowed on Colorado hunts. The ram rod is why I gave the rifle a 4 out of 5 rating.
