I believe better made than most american 22lr semis in it's class. Solid, and dependable.

This thing is accurate right out the box using dove tail sights. Looks expensive and 120 round through it the first day and no issues.

Great little plinker at a low, low price. Ruggedly built and the wood is great quality. Powder coating instead of bluing, but it is well done. Fun to shoot and accurate with the iron sights. Decent trigger and good heft and feel. I am very satisfied with Buds service and the rifle. A very good knock around .22 rifle.

This small bore rifle is a good value. I ran three different brands of ammo through it with only one FTL out of 150 shots, which , I think was the cheap ammo on one brand. The gun is handsome, easy to operate, and easy to handle. The Hi-Vis sights are a bonus for old people's eyes. The gun shot low and to the right out of the box but was easy to adjust. Bud's, as usual, is very good on a purchase.

Bought this firearm when it was $140, now its been raised to $202. This is my first tube-fed 22lr and it has some Pros and Cons. PROS: Nice wood stock, very solid but also light weight and well balanced. The fiber optic iron sights are a great upgrade included on the firearm for the price. Has last shot bolt open, and you can whack the bolt down like an HK to charge the magazine. Safety is on the end of the barrel on top and easy to see and operate. Now for the CONS, which are several. First the manual that came with it has some good info on field stripping but the parts diagram on the last page is very poorly drawn. Have not looked for parts availability but since this is manufacturered in Mexico, assume that it will take some time to find replacement parts. Received the firearm and immediately field stripped it and found the bolt extremely dirty on the bottom part. I dont believe this is from just test firing at the factory. After thoroughly cleaning the bolt and barrel, shot about 50 rounds each of Aguila std vel, and Aguila hyper vel. The hyper vel. cartridge has a slightly longer casing and it would fail to eject. The first few loads with both brands will fire fine but then had either a failure to eject (hyper vel. brand) or failure to extract and double feeding (std.vel). I switched to shooting just the std. vel. but the FTE kept occurring. Did a thorough cleaning once again, especially inside the chamber and bolt assembly, and the second trip to the range still had the same problems. This rifle has a secondarly metal piece which is released by spring tension when you pull the trigger and it hits the back of the bolt and firing pin. I disassembled all the parts in the firing mechanism and thoroughly cleaned inside the narrow grooves where the extractor and fire pin are. Will also try to fire other brands of 22lr but it is hard to come by these days. Hopefully the third trip to the range, all this cleaning will solve the issue. Observations on the construction: On the bottom of the action there are spot welds which make it difficult to fully disassemble all the other parts for a thorough cleaning. The pins hold some of the springs for the trigger and magazine bullet lifter in place and they can slide out very easily. Putting it back in place is difficult because the parts diagram in the manual is not well drawn. Some pins which hold the bullet lifter mechanism seem to be spot welded in place or are very difficult to reach for cleaning. The barrel and tube magazine also appears to have small spot welds to hold it in the action. The feed ramp is a small slope and there is a vertical lip before the chamber. This might be the source of the FTE, as when the bolt flies back then forward it jams the bullet into the chamber violently and might have crimped the normal shape of the brass. Overall, for the price I paid, its a decent firearm but needs a lot of attention to tune it so it might be a great firearm. I may have gotten a lemon, so I will be trying out different ammo and if it does not solve the FTE I will have to send this back.

This firearm is one of the nicest, reliable and accurate ones in all of plinkerton. You would really be silly not to buy it.

Ordered this little 22 lr from mexico imported by century arms. Wow! From the time I ordered to the time I received at my dealer was just a little over 66 hours (so less than 3 days!). Talk about fast processing from order to shipping. Very impressive. I have ordered ammo from BUDS before, but this was my first firearm from them and it came quick. As far as the rifle, the fit and finish seem very good with a beautiful tight grained satin feel wood stock. Took it apart immediately and gave it a good inspection and cleaning. Very easy to take apart and reassemble. Looks to be very well made. Recoil springs are tight when removing the safety mechanism to take out the bolt, so don't let it fly when removing yours. Went back together as easy as it came apart. Sight picture is astounding with the fiber optics. My eyes suffer terribly near and far, so I am impressed. Even without my glasses I can see these great. Also, I really like the large safety knob. It does not stick up in the way, it clicks back and forth as it should and will be great for gloves and arthuritic hands...Yay! The bolt hold open notch is another very nice feature. Compared to some of my vintage safe queens which only have a little detention hole to push your bolt latch into and over the years wear out and no longer functions, this is a real plus. It pulls back and up easily and with just a little pressure snaps right back out. Very nice indeed. Oh, and although the rifle is made in mexico, the user manual is done by Century firearms. It reads well and has pictures too. A 10 year old could breeze through it. I really only have two concerns and that is because I am always overthinking everything. First, the rear sight adjustment slide is only held in by retention and could become lost if you accidentally hung it hard on a barbed wire fence or such. But, to be fair to the rifle, it is not much different from other name brand rifles put out in years past (some of which i own) with the same design, so I see no fault in them. You would really have to be beating the gun up pretty bad to do so. Found replactments for front and rear sights online cheap and I feel its always good to have spares on hand, as i will probably be abusing this rifle out in the bush a little myself. Or if you want to scope this little gem, then the receiver is already dovetailed on top ready to be mounted and worry solved. Secondly, do you remember my mention of the tight recoil springs? Well, they seem so tight it may not cycle lower velocity ammo well, but I will find out quickly after test firing. It may be perfectly fine for 1000 f.p.s. It just seems extremely tight to me compared to my other simple blowback designs. But hey, its a new rifle. You want it tight, right? ;) There are not a lot of real reviews or articles of these rifles on the internet (I searched extensively with few results) so I am being as honest and straightforward about this as I can. What I did find was very positive with the way the rifle functioned on almost all counts as most say its a real shooter. Some griped over the rear sight adjustment as I mentioned, but at the same time talked highly of the fiber optic sight picture as I did. My ffl dealer has one and he has sold a few also. He states they are really good guns and most people pass them by because they don't know the name or company. He has never steered me wrong on any firearm, so I say don't pass this one up. Get one while you can. Most places have them listed for crazy prices or no longer in stock, but BUDS has the best price with free shipping and they offer an extended warranty for under 7 bucks. Another good deal also. Thoughts on another note from my research before purchasing this firearm. Mendoza has been in business 100 years. Building military and law enforcement firearms and recently venturing into commercially sold rifles. They also make a popular air rifle that looks very similar to this mexsar model. It actually cost more than the real rifle on most websites. Just passing the word, so you don't make a mistake and buy a 22 caliber air rifle like my buddy almost did looking for a better deal when you are looking for a 22 caliber long rifle. I shared some info I had found of this rifle with a friend and 15 minutes later he texts me a picture of an air rifle asking if it was the one and how cool looking it was. It was cool looking, but it was an air rifle and not this rifle....lol. So, if you made it this far through this review, I write this for all those tired eyed souls searching for a good deal on the internet. With all this said, I feel I have a well built rifle bought at a budget price. The entire cost including credit card, extended warranty and transfrer fees only put me out $167.40...what a deal! And it was shipped to me in less than 3 days! Yes, its made in mexico. No, it is not a r10/22 or a m60 but I don't care. Its still nice as heck for the money I paid with nice features to boot. I will probably refinish the stock for more protection as it will be outside a lot attached to a 4 wheeler in all sorts of weather, but that is my personal preference. It really is beautiful as it is. In closing, I would like to say the total experience with BUDS was top-notch and I really love the look and feel of this rifle they supplied me. So thanks BUDS! Can't wait to go shoot a few hundred rounds through it. If it performs as pretty as it is made and looks, I will have to buy another soon.
