at the price why not just buy the shield and know that S&W is backing the gun not a company that may not exist in a year

Close, the triggers are different as are the sights, serrations, and a few other little things. I've seen 1.0 model Shields for $300 new on this site, hard to beat.

This is a very good handgun, Fires accurately and had no trouble with it. I highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a great handgun. Very simple to disassemble, clean, and reassemble. Have spoken to the manufacturer. will answer your questions without any problem. Very great people. I also own their Honor Guard HG9SC with a 3.2 inch barrel. It also is a great shooter. Great sights even tho they are not night sights. Rear are white dots Front is large red dot. Once again I would recommend this handgun

The Honor Guard manual states that the gun may take over 100 rounds to break in fully. This seems to be the case. In the first 50 or so rounds the weaker factory loads would either sometimes not feed or smoke stack on partial ejection. The full NATO 124 gr loads functioned fine. After about 100 rounds through the gun it runs perfectly on all the budget ammo and HP good stuff and the sights are right on. In this huge market of single stack 9MMs this is a good one. The gun comes apart easily for cleaning but be sure to read the manual first about the procedure and re- install the recoil spring correctly. The trigger isn't As good as the Creed but it is better than a Glock. The grip friction works well and feels good in the hand and points naturally. The slightly longer slide gives a little more length for the sights and a little more weight to reduce recoil for follow up shots all while keeping the gun easily in the CC mode. This one is a keeper and I have sold my G-43 and Shield 9s.
