This is late review, the Spectrum now being 3 years old has proved reliable, yes Taurus did have a lot of issues with these, but I never experienced any of them in the time my wife has owned this, and the issues with the Spectrum were ironed out serval years back. I you are looking for a low priced back up this may be the one for you. Thank you Buds for your consistent good service!

Do not buy this gun..... thats if you are basing your selection on the color of the grips. I have two of these models but one has a red grip. My complaint with this gun is that the grips dont have the shine that you see in the photo. Every place that sells this particular color uses that same stock photo. Problem with the photo is that somehow they got the gun all shined up but when you get the gun in hand, the teal has a dull finish, like all the other taurus spectrums have. And before you go saying maybe they mixed the gun colors up, I verified the model number, it is the correct gun. If you want a more accurate photo of what this gun will actually look like, look at the taurus spectrum with the stainless slide, white frame but with the light blue grips, that is exactly what this gun looks like but It is more of a teal color because it matches my teal shirt exactly. I only gave this a mid rating because of the grips, but the rest of the gun is fine.

Got this bad boy for my wife as an anniversary gift this past week. Took it to the range immediately upon opening the box and completing the transefer. She loves this thing she put about 100 rounds through it with no issue. I too put about 50 through it the only thing i would note is that the casings eject all over the place. I was sitting in back of her a ways while she was shooting and caught several casings to the face and head lol nothing serious. Anyway would recommend the firearm as well as buds.

Great 380 cal gun for easy concealment. It is truly a double action gun that has a re-strike capability. My wife would NOT carry a Ruger LCP 380 because it required the gun to be half cocked when placing a round in the camber and she did not want to rack the slide in an emergency. But when this gun came out, especially in colors and the gun is not pre-cocked when a round is chambered made her feel saver. She now carries two Spectrum's in multiple colors. Some individuals say Taurus should not make colorful guns because they are not toys, but my wife did not carry until Taurus made colored guns. No different as my wife always hated those Old black computer laptops. Now that they are colored, she's happier with her colored laptops and now with her guns she actually carries. Go figure !!!

I ordered my Spectrum late Sunday night and it was delivered to my dealer Wed morning. I love the color but was concerned about the reliability judging by reviews I had read. Due to cold weather, I had time to dry fire it quite a bit and left the slide locked back several days to take some of the tension out of the recoil spring, Before taking it out for the first time, I disassembled it and applied some grease to the rails. It was still pretty cold when I went out so I only fired 12 aluminum cased Blazers and 12 of my reloads through it. Wilth the exception of one of my reloads, it functioned perfectly. A second pull of the trigger and it fired. The restrike capability functioned great! Due to the dry fireing, the trigger action loosened and smoothed up, Other than the trigger guard smacking my finger and making it sore, the little pistol worked perfectly. I'm very pleased with it and with Bud's service. If you want a small pocket pistol, this would be a good choice for you.

I didn't think much of the gun at first, I've held a few and they feel great in the hand (I have large hands and EDC a CPX2). But I had my concerns about recoil and just being unable to handle the gun because of it's shape and light-weight frame. HA! This is one of the best guns I've ever shot, muchless owned. The accuracy is impressive..while hitting flies probably isn't likely you can easily get groupings of 4-6in from 30ft away. To anyone smirking at the trigger, you don't know what a bad trigger is. The pull is around 6lbs which is great compared to my CPX2 at 9lbs. I can snap all 8 rounds from this pistol in less than a few seconds, fired over 100rds without any failure (I will admit the gun does NOT want to feed winchester white box flat nose ammo! federal and remington are flawless) and neither my finger nor hands hurt from firing the gun that long. The only thing I do not like about the pistol is the lack of a captured recoil spring, everything is simple about the gun except trying to get the spring back under the barrel. I crap talked the .380 until I bought this gun, my wife loves it and you can't get a better self-defense weapon than this gun. This baby packs some punch at 30ft! GOOD JOB TAURUS!!!

Right up front, I am a Taurus Firearms fan & frequent purchaser for decades. I have experience good value for the money I have spent, and actually have had NO problems. AHEM, however, this little 10 oz. gun presented me with a couple of negative issues. My hands are about medium large. To the point, my trigger finger first joint reaches the front of the trigger guard...3 1/2" from back of the grip. The tip of my finger is even with the end of the barrel. SO, my finger just fits between the guard & the far forward DAO trigger. Also, unseen in any photo I have looked at, the tip of the trigger is hooked forward until the last 1/4" is horizontal to the ground with the gun level. This is also sharp & gouges my finger. This combination makes the gun pretty miserable to shoot. For a person with smaller hands, it would likely be more tolerable. For me, my finger is cocked way out to the right by the time the striker fires. Awkward. ALSO: The recoil spring is "uncaptured." DO NOT buy any gun with an uncaptured Recoil Spring!Trying to put this one together after cleaning, the spring guide rod got away from the very squirmy recoil spring. Guide rod grazed my cheek, and hit a cabinet door over 20 feet behind me! I left the problem overnight. Next morning, I cut a 1" piece of ball pen barrel, big enough to hold the recoil spring, & split it down one side. Set the spring guide rod in its gun barrel notch with spring around it, then slipped the pen barrel over the loose end of the spring & compressed the spring in the pen barrel, & VOILA, dang loose spring was captured! Carefully spread the slit on pen barrel, & gingerly slipped it off. Gun back together. Several slide racks prove this all worked. Capturing this spring would likely cost Taurus 27cents & save a lot of liability exposure! This is a problem encountered not only buying guns on line that we actually have not handled & felt. Big Box Retailers within 25 miles or so around me now (N.TX) have trigger locks in all handguns, & managements will NOT allow their removal for the purposes of examining the guns! They need to decide whether they want to be in the firearms business, or not! Most removed all black rifles after the terrible Parkland, FL school shootings. So, now it is essentially "You pays your money & you takes your chance!" Would I buy another Taurus Spectrum? NO. With a modified trigger & a captured guide rod spring, YEP! In fact, I just bought a Taurus .357 Mag Revolver. FINE Quality Handgun! Sweet trigger, SA , DA good. My 4th Taurus this year. Gun Fans, this ain't my First Rodeo! BUDS are First Rate!
