I tried out 3 of the Hot Lips 10/22 mags but I did have a few jam's on my LTR Ruger. which I never had with factory mags or the Steel Lips version of this mag. The round would be well inside the reciever wedged against the mag the bolt and the barrel. Even when the bolt was retracted and locked It only able to be cleared by dropping the mag. This problem did not show up on my daughters rifle. The misaligned housing problem I had with the Steel Lips mag was not present on the Hot Lips and the housings were perfectly glued together. Other than the once every 25-30 round jams on my rifle no other problems. Though after a thousand of so I was seeing some dinks and wear on the on the mag the were working just fine on daughters rifle. They fed at least as well as the factory mags, in my daughter LTR Ruger 10/22s (vintage 2001"). The advantage of the "stick" design, which are. 1st The clear plastic allows you to see the number of rounds you have loaded in the mag. 2nd The curve of the mag gives you a tactile and visual reference to which side is the front of the mag. 3rd The length if the mag gives you more grip and leverage for seating and removing the mag. My daughter, son and I shoot in the local APPLESEED training/matches and being able to make a fast positive reload is important. Also the shooting segments require you to load partial mags which force a reload during a shooting string, being able to make sure you have the correct number of rounds in your mags is another plus. Finally the stick shape is nice for loading on cold days with gloves and at the end of the day when your rifle is full of dirty powder and the blowing sand we get here in Fl sometimes. The stick shape is handy for making a check if the mag is locked in properly, a quick tug is all you need. Overall I would give this product a 4 just because of the observed wear and the possible issue of breaking the "tit" off the mag because of the extra leverage on the mag. this is not a problem in the Steel Lip as that part is steel. Yes I will purchase the Butler Creek mags but only the Steel Lips model with a price difference of only 2$ here at Bud's it's worth it to me. YMMV Thumbs up to Bud's great price and blinding fast shipping. Stoneknives
